The verse text of the So-Called Dalimil’s chronicle from the beginning of the 14th century is one of the oldest Old Bohemian epic texts. Dalimil’s depiction of Bohemian history from its beginnings (with biblical continuity) to the author’s present has been analysed especially with regard to the strong anti-German accent of the author’s narrative. In this study, I aim to look at Dalimil’s thinking from a different angle, namely, to capture the role of the bishop of Prague as an important figure of contemporary society in his conception of history and how this interpretation of the history of the Church in Bohemia is incorporated into the author’s master narrative.
