The purpose of the article is to discuss the specifics of the activities of the Duke of Cracow and Sandomierz, Bolesław V the Chaste towards monasteries. Although the ruler was generous towards the Church, it must be noticed that his generosity - especially towards monasteries founded by the most powerful families - was a derivative of the political situation and the current position of these families in the power elite. The number of privileges for “family” convents was directly proportional to the importance of their founders in Bolesław's state. The Duke's donations became a political tool. It should be noted, however, that foundations of insignificant families in the 13th century or royal foundations did not experience a reduction in the number of privileges issued.

Celem artykułu jest omówienie specyfiki działalności księcia krakowskiego i sandomierskiego Bolesława V Wstydliwego wobec klasztorów. Wspomnianemu władcy nie można odmówić hojności wobec Kościoła. Nie można jednak nie spostrzec, że owa hojność – zwłaszcza wobec klasztorów założonych przez najbardziej potężne rody – była pochodną sytuacji politycznej i aktualnej pozycji owych rodów w elicie władzy. Ilość przywilejów dla „rodowych” konwentów była wprost proporcjonalna do znaczenia ich założycieli w państwie Bolesława. Działalność donacyjna księcia stała się narzędziem politycznym. Należy zwrócić uwagę, że zmniejszenia ilości wystawianych przywilejów nie doświadczyły fundacje rodów mało znaczących w XIII w., czy fundacje monarsze.
