Różnorodna oferta „Księgarni Powszechnej” we Włocławku w świetle jej druku reklamowego z 1913 r.

„Księgarnia Powszechna” działała we Włocławku w latach 1910−1962. Pierwszym jej kierownikiem był ks. Jan Stanisław Żak. Był on świadomy, że sukces księgarni jest uzależniony od dobrej reklamy własnej oferty. Zainicjował wydawanie katalogów księgarskich, na samym początku zlecił druk dwóch katalogów z wykazem książek polskich w 1911 r. Dodatkowo przy wsparciu reklamodawców wydał trzy ilustrowane katalogi prezentujące bogatą ofertę księgarni z prowincjonalnego miasta Królestwa Polskiego. Dzięki takim drukom reklamowym wiadomo, że „Księgarnia Powszechna” poza książką naukową, popularnonaukową i szkolną oferowała: srebrne, brązowe i platerowane przedmioty liturgiczne, szaty i księgi, kanony na ołtarze, stacje Męki Pańskiej, figury świętych z terakoty, kamienia sztucznego i masy mozaikowej; obrazy religijne i historyczne, ramy do obrazów, dewocjonalia w lepszym gatunku, a nawet świece woskowe, kadzidło i wiele innych. Tego typu druki potwierdzają urozmaicenie oferty, jak również wieloaspektową działalność księgarni we Włocławku.

“Księgarnia Powszechna” bookshop operated in Włocławek from 1910 to 1962. Its first director was priest Jan Stanisław Żak who was aware that the success of the bookshop depended on good advertisement of its offer. He initiated publication of book-trade catalogues, starting with two print catalogues with lists of Polish books in 1911. With the support of advertisers next three illustrated catalogues were printed, featuring a wide range of goods offered by a bookshop in provincial Town of Polish Kingdom. Thanks to these prints it is now known that “Księgarnia Powszechna”, apart from scholarly books, popular science books and school books, also offered silver, bronze and plated liturgical objects, clothes and books, canons for the altars, Stations of the Passion, statues of saints made of terracotta and stone material, religious and historical paintings, picture frames, devotional articles, wax candles, incense and much more. The advertising prints show the richness of the bookshop’s offer and its wide-ranging activity.
