This paper deals with the prohibition in Bohemia of the communion under both species of laity by the Catholic Church in years 1621–1622. This decision has been seen as an evidence for many researchers. But one can be surprised, that the post-tridentine Papacy was not in favour of this prohibition, even in the beginning of the year 1621. This decision was a complex negotiation between bohemian clergy, nobility, Habsburg monarch and the Pope, who culminated with the Roman decision of the 11–27 of November 1621, and with the Viennese theological Consulta of the 12 of January 1622. Such a decision was crucial: the old catholic strategy of reunion of Utraquists left the place to a new missionary politic. Documents from the archive of the Supreme Congregation of Roman Inquisition give a new light on the decision of prohibiting the chalice for laity in Bohemia, and especially of his doctrinal basis. A selected edition (in the form of a transcription) follows in a second part of this paper.

Since Pope Francis' document on the liturgical formation of the People of God, entitled Desiderio Desideravi, has stirred considerable controversy in Slovakia, we have decided to analyze its message in broad terms to demonstrate how deeply this apostolic letter is rooted in the tradition of the Catholic Church. Additionally, we aim to show how thoroughly and thoughtfully the Holy Father discusses and explains the essence of every liturgical celebration, particularly the Holy Mass. Our objective is to compare the content of this document, point by point, with the biblical, patristic, and doctrinal traditions of the Church. By doing so, we will demonstrate that, as always, Pope Francis carefully emphasizes the most significant and necessary aspects of Catholic doctrine, not only to explain them but also to guide the faithful in renewing their faith through liturgical celebrations.

Ďalej máme záujem prezentovať teologickú hĺbku a erudíciu, s ktorou Svätý otec analyzuje podstatu liturgického slávenia, predovšetkým svätej omše. Naším zámerom bolo tiež uviesť do vzťahu obsah tohto dokumentu bod po bode s konkrétnou biblickou, patristickou, a vieroučnou tradíciou Cirkvi, aby sme tak poukázali, ako aj tu pápež František – ako sme pri ňom už zvyknutí, – starostlivo približuje najdôležitejšie a nedišpenzovateľné aspekty katolíckej náuky, nielen preto, aby ich primerane vysvetlil, ale aj preto, aby veriacim ukázal, ako si môžu obnovovať svoju vieru už samým slávením posvätnej liturgie.
