The article will present the results of the research performed on chosen at random graduates of the Faculty of Education, Sociology and Health Sciences, University of Zielona Gora. It is important to say that the authors understand the concept of a graduate much broader than it is seen in the surveys run by GUS (Central Statistical Office) or employment offices. Research subjects are people who graduated from the University of Zielona Gora within the last five years. The choice of the interval is connected with the transformation of Higher School of Pedagogy (WSP) into the University of Zielona Gora, which supposedly has changed the importance of diplomas on the labour market. The presented research focused on the career path of the graduates, thus the answer to the following questions was searched: Whether and, if yes, where did the graduates of a chosen faculty obtain a job? What requirements from employers did they encounter while looking for a job and if they met them? The authors also asked the graduates for a retrospective evaluation of professional competencies they had acquired at the university. Analysing the non-scientific activities of graduates during their studies, the authors tried to establish to what extent a university is responsible for equipping students with competencies important on the job market, and how much this responsibility is determined by student activities. The dynamic development of higher education market in the recent years forces particular universities to become interested in learning outcomes. Kazimierz Denek (Pomiar efektywnosci ksztalcenia w szkole wyzszej, Warsaw 1980), speaking about the effectiveness of education, indicates the internal effectiveness (i.e. acquiring knowledge, skills and attitudes enclosed in the university curriculum) and external effectiveness (i.e. implementing knowledge and skills at work). Internal effectiveness is constantly monitored by academic staff, while the other one is verified by the job market. However, due to the competitiveness of universities their authorities should also be concerned with the chances their graduates have on the job market and what position they occupy there. The knowledge about professional careers of graduates can be used in two ways: to improve the process of education and for marketing purposes when recruiting new students.

Due to historical developments, Evangelical church music in Transylvania has changed significantly in recent decades. Major events that had an impact on this development are the establishment of the communist regime in Romania and the mass exodus of German-speaking Evangelical congregation members from most Transylvanian towns and villages. This poses a challenge for the Evangelical Church, who has to conserve and maintain largely unused and empty churches, as well as their assets, such as organs, sheet music, and other musical paraphernalia. However, the changed situation also has its benefits, since it requires an opening of the small Evangelical Church toward others. Music is particularly useful medium for this opening towards the non-Evangelical world, as it is not language-bound.

In the last 120 years, Polish society has experienced very rapid social changes. It has survived two wars, the regaining of independence, post-partition reconstruction, WorldWar II and the collapse of communism. On top of that, there have been processes of change taking place on a global scale, revolutions in the sphere of politics (ideology), economy and culture, which have been accelerated and strengthened by scientific and technological revolutions. This raises the question: what impact did they have on the witnesses and participants in these transformations? How did they affect their fate? Obviously, they have been experienced by different generations, who had different life experiences or cultural experiences. They might have engaged in these processes differently. This article is concerned with the experiences of youth generations at moments of breakthroughs. This is what this text is devoted to. It is an essay, based on the publications of sociologists and the author’s experience. The focus was on asking questions rather than giving answers.

Family is a basic social group in which a human being lives and functions. As any other group existing in society, family is susceptible to the influence of media including the Internet. In the era of widespread informatisation of society, one can often observe an increase of family life's co-existence in the virtual reality. Family cannot stay indifferent towards the constantly developing Internet or virtual space created by it. The family existing and functioning in the World Wide Web receives significant opportunities resulting from staying in that reality. However, there are also numerous threats constituting hazards and serious difficulties in the functioning of the family in that net. Together with the opportunities and the threats, there are certain challenges to family is able to exist and function on purely family-oriented values such as love, honesty and trust.
