W edukacji dzieci najmłodszych w Polsce zachodzą nieustanne zmiany. Szczegółowo analizowana jest kwestia obniżania wieku szkolnego. Wielu specjalistów podejmuje temat rozważań za i przeciw takim ustaleniom. Obniżenie wieku szkolnego wiąże się z wystąpieniem istotnych korzyści, ale również pewnych zagrożeń dla uczniów. Obecnie występuje tendencja do coraz wcześniejszego nabywania wiedzy przez dzieci. W wymiarze globalnym sześciolatki chodzą do szkół w 130 krajach świata. Szczególnie korzystna zmiana w zakresie obniżenia wieku szkolnego związana jest z edukacją w zakresie języków obcych. Jak wykazują badania naukowe, wczesna nauka języków rozpoczynana już jest na poziomie edukacji przedszkolnej. W podejmowanych dyskusjach społecznych nie wszyscy są jednak przekonani do obniżenia wieku szkolnego. Najczęściej kwestię tę wiąże się z dojrzałością i gotowością szkolną, jak również z przygotowaniem szkół, optymalną organizacją przestrzeni edukacyjnej na potrzeby kształcenia najmłodszych uczniów.

In the education of youngest children in Poland changes happen all the time. In detail an issue of lowering the school age is being discussed. Many specialists discuss about positive and negative aspects connected with such arrangements. Lowering the school age is connected with an issue of significant benefits to pupils. At present a tendency of the more and more early knowledge acquisition by children appears. In the global dimension six-year-olds walk to schools in 130 countries of the world. Peculiarly the beneficial change in lowering the school age is connected with the education of foreign languages because it is crucial when the language learning is started already at the level of kindergarten education. The sooner the better. However not everyone is convinced for lowering the school age, it is interfacing inseparably with the matter of the maturity and the school readiness.
