This paper analyses three aspects (the chapter, the title and the introduction ) of prose by Julius Zeyer, a Czech poet. My explicit goal is to seek a relation between the specific forms of the text’s horizontal arrangement and its narrative rhythm as deduced from a comprehensive approach to the author’s works. The analysis relies on a presumption that in fiction, even the horizontal arrangement of a specific literary work is submitted to the function of aesthetic communication.

There are nineteen clerics on the pages of the Plock’s book of assessors in the years 1489-1517. There were primarily associated with the local church environment. Their involvement as arbiters in conflicts is evident; they are also present as the executors of the testaments or the addressee of testament legate, the contractors of acts of buy-sell, the holders of deposits or prudent guardians looking after goods of the Church. The inscription in the Plock’s book of assessors in which we see the clergy, lead to the conclusion that the local representatives of the Church enjoyed trust and authority among the local people.

The institution of the religious chapter has a centuries-old tradition. From the beginning it has been inseparably connected to the development of the various forms of consecrated life. Over the centuries it has taken on different specificities depending on the proposed spirituality. In the context of the synodal process launched in the Catholic Church on the 9th of October 2021 under the theme “Towards a Synodal Church: communion, participation, mission” and the preparations for the 16th General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, the religious chapter provides an example of how to put synodality, properly understood, into practice. In the course of several centuries of its development, detailed norms have been created, now contained in the legislation of the Universal Church as well as and in particular law.

The author of the article discusses the economic crisis of the chapter of the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela from 1780 to 1834. The chapter was one of the most important ecclesiastical institutions in Spain; its economy was based on a medieval offering, the Voto de Santiago. This source of revenue had legendary origins: the Battle of Clavijo of 844. The Voto was paid by the peasants of the Crown of Castile: this explains the enormous wealth of the chapter. Nevertheless, from 1780 the peasants were opposed to paying the Voto. In addition, agricultural production in Spain was beset by problems at the time. This marked the beginning of a major economic crisis for the chapter. The author of the article examines the strategies of the chapter of Santiago to solve its economic problems and the difficulties with coming up with an effective solution.

Obok dobrze rozwiniętych struktur parafialnych i prężnie działającego duszpasterstwa w jej przestrzeń wpisuje działalność ponadparafialną w postaci m.in.: kapituły kolegiackiej, sanktuarium pańskiego, Domu Księży Emerytów, festiwalu organowo-kameralnego, jak też wizyt znamienitych gości m.in. prymasa Polski kard. Stefana Wyszyńskiego, i uroczystości o charakterze diecezjalnym – Millennium Chrztu Polski.

The post-war history of the parish in Kamien Pomorski is as interesting as the whole church history of these lands. Parish Kamieńska was before the war in 1925. (currently there are two parishes, although the second church St. Padre Pio da Pietrelciny only nominally). Certainly being here for almost 350 years episcopal (1188-1545) had a very noticeable impact on the contemporary face of that parish. Next to the well-developed structures and vibrant parish pastoral ministry there are other additional activities : collegiate chapter, the sanctuary of the Lord, the House of Retired Priests, chamber organ festival, as well as visits of distinguished guests including Polish Primate Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski, and ceremonies of a diocesan - Millennium of the Baptism of Poland.

The name ‘chapter’ is the Latin word ‘capitulum’, which stands for eccle- siastical bodies consisting of the clergymen, or a meeting and deliberation of this body. The community referred to as chapter was a derivative phenomenon of the canonicate, assuming institutional and corporate features. The chapters existing by the bishops’ cathedrals played an important role in the history of the Church, since they led the common life and performed a festive service for the God in the cathedral church; they fulfilled the role of the advisory body for the bishop, and from 12th century they elected bishops. The chapters functioning by churches other than the cathedral ones, known as the collegiate, never had such rights. Their essential task was to perform the cult of God in their churches. As a result of Trident Council there was a distinction made between the role of chapter houses and they were subjected to ordinaries.
