“No harm done”: Teachers’ humorous talk about children’s safety

This paper presents and discusses the forms of humour employed by New Zealand primary school teachers when talking about children’s safety in the outdoor classroom. A discourse analysis, guided by the notion of interpretative repertoires (Potter & Wetherell 1990, 2004), suggests a tension between safe practice and enjoyment with humour as a mediating factor. Three repertoires were named from analysis: safe practitioner; adventurous risk-taker; fun, pleasure and excitement seeker. A surprising and unexpected aspect was the place of humour in teachers’ talk, as analysis indicated that humour was an interpretative resource employed in all three repertoires. I suggest humour is a mechanism through which teachers negotiate and manage both providing for children’s enjoyable outdoor educational activities and ensuring their safety.

Celem tego artykułu jest przedstawienie, w jaki sposób nasze dane są weryfikowane podczas zawierania jakichkolwiek umów w Internecie. Należy wykazać, jakie zabezpieczenia mają portale oraz jakie niebezpieczeństwa wynikają z braku zabezpieczeń. Artykuł koncentruje się na umowach zawieranych przez młodych ludzi korzystających z płatności elektronicznych i zwraca szczególną uwagę na umowy zawierane przez dzieci. Obserwacja funkcjonowania w rzeczywistości wirtualnej sugeruje przyjrzenie się tworzeniu profili na portalach społecznościowych i konsekwencje zawierania takich umów. Dane dostarczone podczas rejestracji i umieszczone w ramach korzystania z oferowanej usługi są wykorzystywane w innych procesach. Zakres analizy pokazuje, że powinniśmy nadzorować działalność w sieci młodzieży i edukować je, jak mądrze korzystać z Internetu.

The purpose of this paper is to present the ways of our data verification when entering into all kinds of agreements on the Internet. It should be clear what security measures the portals have and what dangers result from the lack of security. This paper focuses on contracts concluded by young people using electronic payment methods and takes special notice of contracts concluded by children. Observation of the modes of functioning in virtual reality suggests looking at creating profiles on community portals and the consequences of concluding such an agreement. Data provided for registration purposes by users of offered services is used in other processes. The scope of the analysis shows that we should supervise the activity in the network of young people and educate children how to use the Internet wisely.

The article aims to show how Polish legislation provides security for children in the case of gender reassignment by their parent. The issue of determining the right of origin of a child is presented, as well as considering whether, in the current legal situation in Poland, the safety of these children is sufficient and creates appropriate conditions for them to exercise their rights and freedoms. These issues belong to the category of sensitive and relevant to the public interest.

Niniejszy artykuł ma na celu przedstawienie, na ile ustawodawstwo polskie zapewnia bezpieczeństwo dzieciom w przypadku zmiany płci metrykalnej przez ich rodzica. Analizie została poddana problematyka dotycząca ustalenia prawa do pochodzenia dziecka. Podjęto również próbę odpowiedzi na pytanie, czy w obecnym stanie prawnym obowiązującym w Polsce zapewniono bezpieczeństwo tych dzieci w wystarczającym stopniu i czy stworzono im odpowiednie warunki, by mogły urzeczywistnić swoje uprawnienia i wolności. Problematyka ta należy do kategorii wrażliwych i istotnych z punktu widzenia interesu społecznego.

Artykuł dotyczy problemu bezpieczeństwa i ochrony dzieciństwa na Ukrainie w kontekście międzynarodowych doświadczeń związanych z tworzeniem i rozwojem tego typu instytucji. Autorka przedstawia podstawowe zasady ochrony dzieciństwa na współczesnej Ukrainie, ogólne ramy prawne dotyczące świadczenia usług społecznych dla dzieci różnych kategorii, organizacji pracy socjalnej w dziedzinie bezpieczeństwa i ochrony praw dzieci. Uwaga skupia się na osobliwościach i aspektach organizacyjno-prawnych w zakresie pracy socjalnej z dziećmi w sytuacji konfl iktów zbrojnych na wschodzie Ukrainy, w szczególności w roku 2016 w ustawodawstwie ukraińskim wprowadzono nowe pojęcie: „dziecko, które cierpi na skutek działań wojennych i konfl iktów zbrojnych”. Określono oddzielne działania i mechanizmy, które zostały opracowane w dziedzinie polityki społecznej i pracy socjalnej na Ukrainie w zakresie bezpieczeństwa i ochrony praw dzieci w warunkach wysokiego ryzyka społecznego.

The article addresses the problems of child safety and protection in Ukraine in the context of international experiences regarding the formation and development of such institutions. The author presents the basic principles of child protection in modern Ukraine, the general regulatory framework of providing social services to children of different categories, the organisation of social work concerning child security and the protection of children’s rights. The focus is on the peculiarities and organisational and legal aspects of social work with children in conditions of the armed confl ict in the east of Ukraine; specifi cally, in 2016 the term ‘child affected by military action and armed confl icts’ was introduced to the Ukrainian legislation. Separate measures and mechanisms were developed in the fi eld of social policy and social work in Ukraine with regard to child security and the protection of children’s rights in conditions of high social risk.

Artykuł poświęcony jest aktualnym problemom wychowania studentów i uczniów, w szczególności organizacji pracy wychowawczej w ukraińskich instytucjach edukacyjnych związanej z bezpieczeństwem dzieci i ich dobrostanem. W pracę wpisano strategiczne priorytety krajowe, w tym realizację Krajowego Programu Społecznego „Krajowy plan działania na rzecz wdrażania Konwencji ONZ o prawach dziecka” do 2021 r. – jego główne zasady i oświadczenia, cel i zadania zostały przeanalizowane. Podkreślono nowoczesne podejścia do procesu przeciwdziałania przemocy w środowisku szkolnym, jak również kwestie zapewniające prawa, wolności i interesy dzieci, które znajdują odzwierciedlenie w koncepcjach obecnych programów wychowawczych. W szczególności zdefiniowano potencjał uniwersalnego programu wychowawczego „Osobista godność, bezpieczeństwo życia, pozycja obywatelska”.

The article is devoted to topical issues of the upbringing of students and pupils, in particular, the organization of educational work in the educational institutions of Ukraine on issues of child safety and well-being. Strategic national priorities are described in the paper, among them, the implementation of the State Social Program “National Action Plan for the Implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child” for the period until 2021 and its main principles and statements, goals and objectives have been analyzed. Modern approaches to the process of counteracting violence in the school environment have been outlined; issues ensuring the rights, freedoms and interests of children that are reflected in the concepts of current educational programs have also been substantiated. In particular, the potential of the universal educational program “Personal Dignity. Life Safety. Civic Position” has been defined in the article.
