Nos propusimos en este trabajo describir e interpretar un objeto aún poco examinado: el estado de la ciencia política especializada en América Latina en Francia. Para ello, en primer lugar, estudiamos los atributos distintivos de la ciencia política francesa. Luego, nos abocamos al análisis de los estudios latinoamericanistas, desde su origen hasta su situación actual. Cerramos nuestro trabajo, presentando diferentes líneas de reflexión sobre los desafíos que enfrentan los estudios politológicos, focalizados en esta región, de cara a un proceso de institucionalización todavía incompleto.ABSTRACT This article seeks to describe and understand a weakly analysed subject: the French political science specializing in Latin America. For this purpose, first, we study the distinctive attributes of the French political science. Further on, we place our attention on Latin American studies in France, from the beginning until the present situation. Then, we expose different lines of thought to analyse the challenges in the French political science focused on Latin American studies. Based on our observations, we affirm that this field is still in a process of institutionalization.
