The core curriculum for general education, introduced in 2008, indicated that schools should implement courses of citizen education and the related global education, which comprises education towards sustainable development, education for peace and preventing conflicts, and intercultural education.Educational institutions, especially those in which culturally diversified children and youth are educated, ought to implement courses in multi – and intercultural education and such courses which form the attitudes of mutual respect, tolerance, shared citizen responsibility, feeling of solidarity and readiness to cooperate with people of other cultures and religions. What has been presented in this study are the major assumptions and contents of particular components of global and citizen education as guidelines for teachers implementing such educational curricula.

We wprowadzonej w 2008 roku podstawie programowej dla kształcenia ogólnego wskazano, iż w szkołach należy realizować programy edukacji obywatelskiej i związanej z nią edukacji globalnej obejmującej edukację na rzecz zrównoważonego rozwoju, edukację na rzecz pokoju i zapobiegania konfliktom oraz edukację międzykulturową.Placówki oświatowe, zwłaszcza te, w których kształcą się dzieci i młodzież zróżnicowane kulturowo, powinny realizować programy edukacji wielo- i międzykulturowej oraz kształtujące postawy wzajemnego poszanowania, tolerancji, obywatelskiej współodpowiedzialności, poczucia solidarności i gotowości współpracy z ludźmi reprezentującymi inne kultury i religie.W artykule zostały przedstawione najważniejsze założenia i treści poszczególnych składników edukacji globalnej i obywatelskiej jako wskazówki dla nauczycieli realizujących tego typu programy edukacyjne.
