Upadłość przedsiębiorstw jest procesem na trwale wpisanym już w funkcjonowanie polskiej gospodarki rynkowej. W artykule, składającym się z dwóch części, podjęto próbę przedstawienia ogólnych tendencji w zakresie upadłości przedsiębiorstw w Polsce. W części pierwszej skoncentrowano się głownie na przybliżeniu kwestii terminologicznych upadłości, bankructw oraz niewypłacalności przedstawionych w kontekście kryzysu w przedsiębiorstwie. W drugiej części artykułu dokonano analizy upadłości przedsiębiorstw w Polsce, prezentując szczegółowo ten proces w latach 2004-2008, w podziale na województwa, branże oraz formy organizacyjno-prawne bankrutujących podmiotów.

Company bankruptcy has already been a process permanently present in the Polish economy. This article, consisting of two parts, aims to depict general tendencies in the area of company bankruptcy in Poland. The first part focuses mainly on presenting terminology of bankruptcy and insolvency in the context of crisis in a company. The second part analyzes bankruptcy of companies in Poland, particularly displaying this process that took place in 2004-2008, in regard to voivodeships, branches as well as organizational and legal forms of companies being on the brink of bankruptcy.
