In the present investigation an attempt has been made to extract out natural variations with time interval, a total of 540 (60 samples from each age group — 30 samples each from males & females) collected from 9 different age groups, that is two handwriting samples in present handwriting (with an interval of 5–10 minutes between the two handwritings) with content same as that of previous written script (old handwriting) which is also taken as a sample for comparative study with time interval ranged from 2–33 years between present and old handwriting. It has been found that connectivity between letters, alignment and spacing are highly significant characteristic along with those which remain unaffected and intact by showing consistency in skill and speed in due course or age and time. The findings of the present study will assist in the cases which are lacking in contemporary handwritings and can be undertaken with ease by taking into account the handwriting characteristics which are prone to variations.

The Ouroboros Model proposes a brain inspired cognitive architecture including detailed suggestions for the main processing steps in an overall conceptualization of cognition as embodied and embedded computing. All memories are structured into schemata, which are firmly grounded in the body of an actor. A cyclic and iterative data-acquisition and -processing loop forms the backbone of all cognitive activity. Ever more sophisticated schemata are built up incrementally from the wide combination of neural activity, concurrent at the point in time when the memory is established; i.e., distinct representations are accrued. Later on, an entire schema can be reinstated from diverse subsets of its constituent features. In order to decode or compile ever more elaborate constructions, extant building blocks are concatenated. They are serially linked via common or “connection-attributes” of different representations and symbols, and they are employed for serial perception, processing and action, in particular, also for language production. At various levels, commonalities between different schemata lead to a similar preferred use of their respective tokens and subsequently shared categorizations. Rules, for the concatenation of words, akin to the ones governing chemical reactions, can be abstracted. As special kinds of symbols, words and word-classes along with the whole grammar of a language can thus be seen as a direct consequence of the processes outlined in the Ouroboros Model. Strong emphasis is put on the dimension of time over short intervals during active experience and performance, and, in particular, during interactions with other agents.

This paper describes ways in which political speakers define and legitimize future policies by construing different policy options in terms of ‘privileged’ and ‘oppositional’ futures. Privileged and oppositional futures are conceptual projections of alternative policy visions occurring in quasi-dialogic chunks of speech, revealing specific evidential, mood, and modality patterns. Privileged future involves the speaker’s preferred or at least acknowledged vision and is articulated through absolute modality and evidential markers which derive from factual evidence, history, and reason. Oppositional future involves an antagonistic and plainly threatening vision, expressed by probabilistic modality and usually interrogative mood. Following the principle of psychological consistency in belief, oppositional future is normally communicated first, allowing a swift and strong response from the privileged future expressed in the speaker-preferred vision.

The Case of Dialetheism

The concept of dialetheia and the claim of dialetheism has been examined and compared to such related concept as contradiction, antinomy, consistency and paraconsistency. Dialetheia is a true contradiction and dialetheism is the claim that there exists at least one dialetheia. It has been observed that dialetheism is equivalent to the negation of the traditional principle of contradiction. Hence, dialetheism itself is no new idea in whatsoever. The novelty of dialetheism consists in the arguments delivered for its case. Key justification the partisans deliver for dialetheism has been examined and evaluated: antinomies, an alleged Gödel’s paradox, and existence of limits of thought. The structure of those arguments has been analyzed. It has been claimed that they share one and the same simple structure which may be called reverse paradox. The vital content dialetheists add to the traditional paradoxes is only the thesis of reliability of the vernacular prima facie knowledge. Three objections have been raised against the justification of dialetheism: firstly, it has been claimed that exactly the same argument supports principle of contradiction, secondly, it has been questioned whether the arguments preserve their value when logic is subject to revision, and thirdly, it has been claimed that the underlying logic of dialetheism is classical.

The aim of the paper is to show the scale of preparing habilitation reviews ending with untypical conclusions and the impact of such reviews on the outcome of habilitation proceedings in one discipline – sociology. The general analysis of the outcome of the review comes down to the final conclusion; the detailed analysis proposed by the author also takes into account the degree of strengthening or weakening of this conclusion. In particular, the weakening of a positive conclusion may indicate that the actual evaluation of the work is rather negative and differs from the nominal evaluation. The article begins with a theoretical introduction in which the author analyzes the legal aspects of reviewing the achievements to the habilitation degree, the imperfections of this process indicated in the literature, and briefly refers to American and Polish research in the field of pragmatics of RPT reviews, which provide tools to interpret the mechanism of formulating unobvious conclusions. A study conducted on a sample of 130 habilitation cases in sociology from 2012–2019 showed that the results of the proceedings were rather consistent with the results of the reviews. Nevertheless, a set of “border proceedings” have been identified that have received reviews with a low degree of certainty (weakened) or some, but divergent, degree of certainty. In their case, the outcome of the proceedings was unpredictable, i.e. proceedings with the same review configuration ended in different ways.

The alleged proof of the non-mechanical, or non-computational, character of the human mind based on Gödel’s incompleteness theorem is revisited. Its history is reviewed. The proof, also known as the Lucas argument and the Penrose argument, is refuted. It is claimed, following Gödel himself and other leading logicians, that antimechanism is not implied by Gödel’s theorems alone. The present paper sets out this refutation in its strongest form, demonstrating general theorems implying the inconsistency of Lucas’s arithmetic and the semantic inadequacy of Penrose’s arithmetic. On the other hand, the limitations to our capacity for mechanizing or programming the mind are also indicated, together with two other corollaries of Gödel’s theorems: that we cannot prove that we are consistent (Gödel’s Unknowability Thesis), and that we cannot fully describe our notion of a natural number.

The author of the article presents the image of schizophatic speech with particular emphasis on consistency disorders. He states that loss of consistency in schizophrenia is its axial symptom and it indicates on the progressive process of language disorganization in the disease. From the beginning of constructing the reflection on schizophrenia, disorders of consistency have been, and currently they are the object of researchers analysis of language disorders in schizophrenia. The picture of the consistency disorder of utterance in schizophrenia is specific and different from that observed in others disorders related to the disintegration of competences, such as aphasia, pragnosia or dementia. It takes place mainly at the level of semantics and it leaves the grammatical structureof utterance relatively preserved.

In the eyes of German lawyers the harmonization of European private law endangers the highly differentiated German legal system. Beyond the (outer) system of the German law, as it occurs in its order, in its division in books, chapters, articles, paragraphs, sentences and even definitions, coherence and consistency are considered as characteristic elements of the (inner) system of German law. This system serves for both the interpretation as well as the development of the law.On the contrary, European legislation is often considered as piecemeal and not coherent. Nevertheless, in the competition of legal systems,German lawyers seem to be incapable of promoting their system as the “better” system. Even today the roots of the – historically contingent rather than logical – German legal system remain unknown.
