The basis of Roman Ingarden's concept is discussed in relation to the idea of man, an inexact idea whose content’s direct morphe is a conglomerate lacking any internal unity. A short description of the “idea qua idea” aspect and the constants and variables of the content of the idea are presented. Difficulties related to the description of the idea of living organisms, characterized by both inter-individual variability (diversity) and intra-individual transformability (development), are discussed. In order to overcome these difficulties, a modification of some of Ingarden’s solutions is proposed and the problem of understanding human beings’ constitutive nature as a Gestalt quality is analyzed. Issues connected with a detailed analysis of the content of the idea are also characterized.
