EN
For two decades, the Supreme Audit Office has been taking systemic anticorruption measures, which mostly consist in prevention. The unique achievements of NIK comprise identifying the main corruption-prone areas in Poland, and the basic types of activities where the risk of corruption is substantially high, as well as defining and describing a corruption generating mechanisms catalogue. Due to NIK’s motions submitted over the last twenty years, numerous legislative and organisational changes have been introduced, which enhance the transparency of public institutions functioning and eliminate or reduce corruption generating mechanisms. NIK’s consistent and systemic activities have an important impact on reduction of corruption threats in Poland.
