The aim of the paper is to present the problem of transmitting cultural-determined personal names in literatury translation. The study focuses on various groups of such lexems: personal names, which were created onthe base of the model: name + patronimicum + surname; diminutive names; meaning names; folkand historical names and personal names of intertextual relationships. The emphasis is put on imagination of the translator and creative individual approach to each lexical element and its function in the text. The very important thing is the perspective of recipients with a different cultural background.

Polish PKO BP and Hungarian OTP Bank are the largest, dominant national bankinginstitutions of a similar nature – universal banks with a strong emphasis on retail operations.However, they differ significantly because of international activities. PKO BP has only local bankin Ukraine, and the OTP group is present in 9 countries in CEE. The relatively strong economicposition of both banks, similar history would indicate that their activities related to foreignexpansions should develop in the same way. However, this hasnʼt happen. Among a number ofreasons we should include cultural aspects, closely bound up with the legacy of the past, politicaland economic circumstances for both countries.

In the contemporary socio-economical scenario, knowledge sharing has become a crucial topic for discussion. As the economy of the societies becoming knowledge centric, knowledge production and dissemination by the educational and other social institutions must play an important role. In this paper, we discuss the notion of knowledge sharing as normative action involving two modes of function: voluntary and obligatory. Knowledge sharing as voluntary action presupposes personal ontology of knowledge. The knower as owner of knowledge has the right to disseminate knowledge. The reason of this dissemination could be sometimes to fulfill certain psychological desire or material needs, rather than purely value centric. Such a mode of sharing could be the reason for the degeneration of knowledge. It is because voluntary dissemination of knowledge does not go beyond the whims and fancies of the knower. On the other hand, knowledge sharing as an obligatory action emphasizes care and commitment. These normative elements could not only transform the attitude of the knower, but also help him to transcend the mere economic and psychological reasons of knowledge sharing. This transcendental logic of sharing would show how knowledge obtains its social ontology.

František Gellner si za ženu vezme gorilu

This study focuses on one of the most popular poems by František Gellner. The first part summarizes previous interpretations of the text, and on the basis of further source research, some of these are extended or partly corrected. In the next part, the study offers new relevant contexts in which this poem can be perceived. The analysis focuses predominantly on the motif of the gorilla. This motif is presented as significant at the time the poem appeared, broadly resonating throughout culture (and pop-culture) - among other things it seems related to a new reflection of the animal features of the human race, particularly sexuality. The concluding part of the study discusses the genesis of the text, analysing a manuscript variant of the poem (hitherto unknown) and the potential this source offers to the interpretation.

Studie se zabývá jednou z nejpopulárnějších básní Františka Gellnera. Ve své prvé části podává přehled dosavadních interpretací tohoto textu a některé z nich s využitím dalšího pramenného výzkumu rozvádí či částečně zpřesňuje. V další části se pokouší nabídnout nové relevantní kontexty, v nichž lze báseň vnímat. Výklad je soustředěn zejména k motivu gorily, jenž je předveden jako dobově příznačný a mnohočetně rezonující v kulturní a pop-kulturní sféře, mj. v souvislosti s reflexí animálních stránek člověka, zejména jeho sexuality. Závěrečná část studie je věnována genezi Gellnerovy básně, zejména analýze její dosud zcela neznámé rukopisné varianty a potenciálu, který tento materiál poskytuje pro interpretaci.

Pokolenie Y, którego przedstawiciele znani są jako milenialsi, jest pierwszą generacją, która za sprawą dostępu do Internetu dorastała w globalnie skomunikowanym świecie. Zjawisko to jest związane z pojawieniem się kultury globalnej, która wpływa na kultury narodowe. Przedstawiciele pokolenia Y będą wkrótce dominować wśród światowej siły roboczej. Dlatego zrozumienie ich oczekiwań zawodowych w świetle globalizacji kulturowej jest kluczowe dla organizacji, które chcą zachęcić i możliwie długo zatrzymać ich jako pracowników. Badanie to poszukuje odpowiedzi na pytanie, czy zawodowe oczekiwania milenialsów zależą od pochodzenia kulturowego. Projekt badawczy oparto na kwestionariuszu, który pozwolił zebrać dane w Polsce, Niemczech i Chile, trzech krajach o znacznych różnicach kulturowych według modelu wymiarów kultury zaproponowanego przez Geerta Hofstede. Analiza danych pozwoliła zweryfikować, które z oczekiwań zawodowych wśród analizowanej grupy wiekowej mogą być kulturowo zależne. Przedstawione wyniki i zalecenia mogą być użyteczne dla osób zarządzających organizacjami w celu tworzenia środowiska pracy atrakcyjnego dla pokolenia Y oraz w dalszych pracach naukowych.

Millennials are the first age cohort that grew up in an internationally connected world. Globalisation has seen the emergence of a global culture that affects national cultures. Millennials will soon represent the majority of the global workforce. Therefore, understanding their job expectations in light of cultural globalisation is crucial for organisations to attract and retain them as employees. This study explores whether millennials’ job expectations depend on their cultural background. A questionnaire-based research project was conducted in Poland, Germany and Chile, countries characterised by significant cultural differences according to a six-dimension model developed by Geert Hofstede. The research compared the job-related expectations of the young age cohort that may be culture-dependent and independent. The findings and recommendations can be useful for leaders of organisations to create a millennial attractive work environment and for further academic research.
