Celem artykułu jest zwrócenie uwagi na problem datowania najstarszych dzwonów w Polsce przy uwzględnieniu zagadnień technologicznych. W artykule, na podstawie wybranej grupy przykładów, pozyskanych głównie podczas badań na terenie województwa lubuskiego, omówiono problem kształtu dzwonów wczesnośredniowiecznych. Zagadnienie to znajduje szerokie odzwierciedlenie w literaturze niemieckiej, zarówno na tle badań teoretycznych, jak też praktycznych. Literatura polska podejmuje problematykę dzwonów przede wszystkim na tle zagadnień inskrypcji i dekoracji. Pomijanie zagadnień technologicznych i muzykologicznych dzwonów nastręcza trudności w datowaniu najstarszych dzwonów w Polsce. Tłem dla rozważań pozostaje postulat pełnej inwentaryzacji tego typu dzwonów.

The aim of the article is to draw attention to the problem of dating the oldest bells in Poland, taking into account technological issues. On the basis of a selected group of examples, obtained mainly during research in the Lubuskie Voivodeship, the article discusses the problem of the shape of early medieval bells. This issue is particularly reflected in German literature, both against the background of theoretical and practical research. Polish literature deals with the issues of bells mainly against the background of inscriptions and decorations. Ignoring the technological and musicological issues of bells causes difficulties in dating the oldest bells in Poland. The postulate for a full inventory of this type of bells remains as the background to these considerations.
