The article is devoted to the Passion from Tegernsee written in the first half of the 11th century, and especially to how the hagiographer presented a mission of St Adalbert (Wojciech) among Prussians. The mission was described as carried out to the rhythm of canonical hours, while an attempt to evangelize the pagan Prussians was pictured as the dedication of the church. In such a depiction, the pastoral care and public cult of God are one and the same – the concept extremely rare in early medieval hagiography.

Przedmiotem artykułu jest Pasja z Tegernsee napisana w pierwszej połowie XI w., a w szczególności sposób, w jaki hagiograf przedstawił misję św. Wojciecha u Prusów. Misja ta miała się dokonywać w rytm godzin kanonicznych, próba zaś ewangelizowania pogańskich Prusów została przedstawiona jako dedykacja kościoła. W tym ujęciu duszpasterstwo i publiczny kult Boży są jednym i tym samym – koncepcja niezwykle rzadko pojawiająca się we wczesnośredniowiecznej hagiografii.

The article displays a relationship between the sacramentals and liturgy by the example of the rite of dedication of the church and altar. Theology of these rites celebrated during the process of erecting a particular church conveys rich spiritual impact upon the community life, their spiritual growth and integration. Starting from the blessing of the area for the future building, along the installment of the cornerstone and finaly dedication of the church and altar, the rites evince deep analogy to the process of Christian initiation. Theology of this sacramental is useful and adequate particularly on commemorating the consecration of the church or of the church's saint patron. It seems to be valuable in times of weakening faith and relativism when the Christian human dignity and the meaning of the sacred should be rediscovered and appreciated anew.

Artykuł dotyczy związku sakramentaliów z liturgią na przykładzie obrzędów dedykacji kościoła i ołtarza. Teologia odnowionych obrzędów, sprawowanych w trakcie procesu powstawania danego kościoła, wnosi bogaty wkład w życie wspólnoty, jej wzrost i integrację. Począwszy od poświęcenia placu budowy pod przyszły budynek, poprzez instalację kamienia węgielnego aż do poświęcenia kościoła i ołtarza, ujawniają one głębokie znaczenie i analogię do procesu chrześcijańskiego wtajemniczenia. Teologia omawianego sakramentalium jest zarówno przydatna, jak i adekwatna na okoliczność wspomnienia rocznicy konsekracji kościoła lub świętego patrona, ze względu na sam kościół, ale nie mniej i każdego człowieka. Ma to szczególne znaczenie w czasach słabnącej wiary i relatywizmu, kiedy to chrześcijańska godność człowieka, jak też wrażliwość na sacrum winny być na nowo odkrywane i doceniane.
