This paper is devoted to the circumstances surrounding origin, development and termination of the Czechoslovak Motorist Defence Corps in 1938 and 1939. This organisation was established as a result of collaboration between Czechoslovak automobile clubs (Czechoslovak Auto Club and the League of Czechoslovak Motorists) and the Ministry of National Defence, while promoting development of motoring during a period in which the country was under threat. The primary objective was to popularise motoring and train new drivers, who would be capable of safely operating motorised vehicles in the event of a military threat and driving them under difficult conditions and orientating themselves in the field. Termination of this organisation is linked to the events in March 1939. This text is based on archive sources and the period press.

The paper makes an attempt to establish the possible links between defence training schemes launched by Poland’s state authorities, as well as the local and regional authorities, and the training of the Polish Armed Forces. Based on legal foundations, it outlines the forms and planning principles of defence training schemes, followed by an insight into the typology and principles of programming the main forms of training of the Polish Armed Forces, i.e. military exercises. The summary of the paper points to the prospects of combining various forms of defence training schemes with the military exercises that are offered.

W oparciu o podstawy prawne przedstawiono formy i zasady planowania szkolenia obronnego, a następnie typologię i zasady programowania głównych form szkolenia Sił Zbrojnych, tj. ćwiczeń wojskowych. W podsumowaniu wykazano szanse łączenia form szkolenia obronnego z ćwiczeniami wojskowymi.
