In this article, I gave into consideration the essence of creating demotivators (memes). To fully illustrate their idea, I conducted two surveys which I asked about features and needs fulfilled by these cultural texts. I presented some information about the history, the artists and the “intentions” of so-called demotivating posters. From the bunch of daily created internet memes I chose those that over the years present the highest heads of the Russian state: Boris Yeltsin, Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Medvedev. The most essential demotivator which I have collected is their shared picture, assembled for the purpose of artistic moment, topped with a remarkable commentary. I think that the phenomenon of demotivators can be described as semiotics because they have a significant impact on society. They allow us to evaluate how the spiritual condition of the mass media human is changing. They come from a semiotic system that should be considered in the linguistic context.

W swoim artykule poddałam pod dyskusję istotę tworzenia demotywatorów. Aby w pełni zobrazować ich ideę, przeprowadziłam dwie ankiety, które stawiajá pytanie o to, jakie funkcje i potrzeby spełniają te teksty kultury. Przedstawiłam wybrane informacje o historii, twórcach i „intencjach” tzw. plakatów demotywujących. Z autentycznego zalewu powstających codziennie internetowych memów wybrałam te, które na przestrzeni lat komentu oraz Dmitrija Miedwiediewa. Kwintesencją zebranych przeze mnie demotywatorów jest ich wspólne, zmontowane na potrzeby chwili, zdjęcie okraszone niebanalnym komentarzem. Uważam, że demotywatory można określać mianem fenomenu semiotyki, ponieważ wywierają one znaczący wpływ na społeczeństwo i niewątpliwie pozwalają ocenić, jak zmienia się kondycja duchowa człowieka mass mediów. Demotywatory wywodzą się z systemu semiotycznego, który należałoby rozpatrywać w kontekście lingwistyczym.

Motyw kreacji przez rysunek w folklorze polskim i wschodniosłowiańskim

The article attempts to illustrate the folk motif of bringing objects and people to life by means of drawing them. Such an act of creation has not yet been classified as an independent motif of oral folklore, so the working term: “the creation by drawing motif” was chosen. Examples of the implementation of the motif have been found in various genres of Polish, Ukrainian and Russian folklore (porquoi stories, heroic tales, magical fairy tales, humorous fairy tales), Polish e-folklore (demotivators) and in children’s literature and cinematography (Polish and Russian). This motif is present in cultural texts with different broadcasting intentions – informative (porquoi stories), ludic (humoresques, demotivators), compensatory (heroic legends, magical fairy tales), didactic (children’s literature and cinematography) and nostalgic (demotivators). The permanence of the creation by drawing motif in various cultural texts results from the universal longing for the possibility of a quick fulfilment of desires and improvement of one’s own life or the world.

W artykule podjęta została próba egzemplifikacji ludowego motywu ożywiania przedmiotów oraz ludzi przez rysunek. Taki akt kreacji nie został dotychczas sklasyfikowany jako odrębny motyw ustnego folkloru, dlatego przyjęto termin roboczy „motyw kreacji przez rysunek”. Przykłady realizacji motywu odnaleziono w gatunkach polskiego, ukraińskiego i rosyjskiego folkloru (legendy ajtiologiczne, legendy bohaterskie, bajki magiczne, bajki humorystyczne), polskiego e-folkloru (demotywatory) oraz w polskiej i rosyjskiej literaturze i kinematografii dla dzieci. Motyw kreacji przez rysunek jest obecny w tekstach kultury o różnej intencji nadawczej – informacyjnej (legendy ajtiologiczne, legendy o bohaterach), ludycznej (humoreski, demotywatory), kompensacyjnej (bajka magiczna), dydaktycznej (literatura i kinematografia dziecięca) i nostalgicznej (demotywatory). Trwałość motywu kreacji przez rysunek w różnych tekstach kultury wynika z uniwersalnej tęsknoty człowieka za możliwością szybkiej realizacji pragnień i poprawy własnego życia lub świata.

Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie fenomenu tekstu hybrydalnego jako gatunku „nowej kultury pisma” oraz jego roli w dydaktyce języka obcego, zwłaszcza w kształtowaniu kompetencji komunikacyjnej. W tekście zostaną zaprezentowane takie odmiany gatunkowe rosyjskich i (w mniejszym zakresie) polskich tekstów hybrydalnych, jak demotywatory i reklama społeczna. Przeprowadzona analiza materiału egzemplifikacyjnego pozwoli na ukazanie znaczącego potencjału dydaktycznego interesującej nas praktyki tekstualnej w nauczaniu języków obcych.

Artykuł koncentruje się wokół problemów definicyjnych memów oraz memów internetowych. Zaprezentowany przegląd definicji cybermemów nie pretenduje do kompletności, pozwala jednak ukazać podstawowe trudności wiążące się z próbą wykorzystania terminu o dość długiej i burzliwej historii do opisu pewnego określonego zjawiska kulturowego. Dużą część pracy wypełniają rozważania na temat niezwykle popularnych w ostatnim czasie demotywatorów, które na tle bogatego repertuaru form słowno-obrazowych wyróżniają się charakterystyczną kompozycją (zbliżoną do emblematu) oraz różnorodnością znaczeniową i funkcjonalną.

The article focuses on the definitional problems of memes and the Internet memes. The presented review of the cyber memes` definition is claimed to be incomplete, however, helps to show the main difficulties connected with the attempt to use the term (which has rather long and tempestuous history) to describe the specific, cultural phenomenon. The large part of the essay is devoted to the deliberation about demotivators — the topic which has been extremely popular recently. Demotivators distinugish themselves out of the wide range of audiovisual forms thanks to not only the compostition (similar to the emblem) but also the meaning and functional diversity.
