La legalidad contra la ilegalidad de los mexicanos en Estados Unidos (1994-2012)

El asunto del tráfico ilegal de trabajadores mexicanos a los Estados Unidos tomó mucho vigor por el año de 1994; casi al mismo tiempo de la puesta en marcha del Tratado de Libre Comercio para América del Norte (TLCAN). Según muchos mexicanos, todavía hace unos 40 años se podía caminar por las cercanías de la amplia línea fronteriza, esperar la llegada de la noche y pasar al otro lado, sin grandes complicaciones. Pero a mediados de los ochenta las finanzas mexicanas se derrumbaron, el gobierno mexicano se declaró en bancarrota, en el país hubo quiebra de fábricas, de empresas y una fuerte disminución de puestos de trabajo; además, se redujo el poder adquisitivo y la falta de oportunidades de desarrollo. Todo lo anterior estimuló y aumentó el tráfico ilegal de mexicanos a Estados Unidos, y el asunto puso en estado de alerta a la Patrulla Fronteriza estadounidense.

The case of illegal traffic of Mexican workers to the United States increased rapidly in the year 1994, almost at the same time as the implementation of North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).According to a lot of Mexicans, forty years ago it was possible to walk close to the front line, wait for the dusk and cross the border without great effort. However, in the middle of 1980s the Mexican financial records deteriorated, the government declared bankruptcy and Mexican economy suffered a sudden reduction of workplaces. The opportunities of development disappeared and the possibility of purchase got reduced. All the above mentioned phenomena stimulated and increased the illegal traffic of Mexicans to the United States and consequently put the American Border Patrol on the alert.
