The improvement and acceleration of the development of regions in the European Union is the key issue of many EU documents. Presently the Strategy Europe 2020 is considered the most important document. According to it, the development of regions contributes to intelligent growth, which is one of the EU priorities. One of the factors which directly reflects the development of a region is the business structure and its changes. The business structure in Slovak regions has changed under the influence of the economic crisis. The aim of this paper is to analyze the changes in the business structure in Slovak regions and to assess whether these changes have contributed to the development of the region. The data used in the analysis were mainly obtained from the Slovak Statistics Office and other relevant sources.

Przyspieszenie rozwoju regionów jest jednym z kluczowych zadań Unii Europejskiej. Zgodnie z najważniejszym dokumentem UE w tym zakresie jakim jest Strategia Europa 2020 rozwój regionów wymaga inteligentnego wzrostu, co staje się jednym z priorytetów UE. Jednym z podstawowych czynników, który w sposób bezpośredni odzwierciedla rozwój regionu jest struktura działalności gospodarczej. W artykule przeanalizowano zmiany w strukturze działalności gospodarczej poszczególnych regionów Słowacji w okresie kryzysu oraz oceniono czy zmiany te przyczyniły się do rozwoju tych regionów. Autorzy do przeprowadzenia badań wykorzystali przede wszystkim dane udostępniane przez Główny Urząd Statystyczny Słowacji.

Od kilkunastu lat w Polsce można zaobserwować coraz większe zainteresowanie turystyką wiejską, a co za tym idzie agroturystyką, która odgrywa bardzo ważną rolę w rozwoju obszarów wiejskich. Definicji agroturystyki jest dużo, ale coraz częściej mówi się o niej jako o formie wypoczynku połączonego z wakacjami przyrodniczymi, turystyką rowerową, pieszą, sportową i krajoznawczą. Jej rozwój niesie wiele korzyści, m.in. poprawę jakości życia na wsi i rozwój infrastruktury. Należy jednak pamiętać, że to przyroda i natura są elementami, które należy wykorzystywać w celu rozwoju obszarów wiejskich. To one przyciągają turystów chcących choć na chwilę uciec od codziennych problemów i zgiełku. Jej nienaruszony stan jest głównym wyznacznikiem atrakcyjności danego obszaru, wystarczy go tylko odpowiednio zagospodarować.

For more than ten years in Poland, one can observe an increasing interest in rural tourism, and hence agritourism, which plays a very important role in the development of rural areas. There are a lot of agritourism definitions, but more and more often it is referred to as a form of relaxation combined with nature vacations, cycling tourism, walking, sports and sightseeing. Its development brings many benefits, including improving the quality of rural life and infrastructure development. However, it should be remembered that nature and nature is a factor that should be used to develop rural areas. It attracts tourists who want to escape from everyday problems and the hustle and bustle even for a moment. Its intact state is the main determinant of the attractiveness of a given area, it is enough to manage it properly.

Regional development in the globalizing economy is a result of many factors. At the same time, this process may take different forms. Undoubtedly one of the factors that influence the development of the regions are innovations.Innovations are unquestionably a chance but at the same time a great challenge for regions. The article attempts to identify the importance of innovations in the development of the region.
