Our paper is devoted to the study of V-Box Chart method in a parametric model. This algorithm is proposed to be used in the change-point detection in a sequence of observations. The choice of parameters in such an algorithm is heuristic. In our paper we use the mini-max rule for this choice and we control the probability that no signal is given, when the process is out of control as well as the probability of false alarm. We apply this algorithm to the detection of a change in stock exchange data.

The article presents an attempt to assess the EU greenhouse gases emission trading scheme in the third trading period covering the years 2013−2020. The system constitutes the absolutely fundamental instrument of the community climate policy. Starting from 1st January 2013 it has been functioning according to the revised legal formula. The objective of the study is to provide a partial answer to the question whether the system, in its new formula, can be regarded as the optimal instrument of the current climate policy. Answering this question two selected, but, crucial optimization criteria were used, i.e. the criterion of environmental effectiveness and the criterion of distribution effects minimization.

The paper discusses the role of logistic enterprises, including especially the transport ones, in strengthening the resilience of supply chains. The research was carried out in the sector of metallurgic products distribution. The paper aims at building a model of strengthening the resilience of supply chains for the flow of products manufactured to order. The author proposed a research methodology involving the measurement of disruptions, the measurement of deviations, a statistical analysis and simulation modelling. In simulation modelling the author used the management system dynamics technique.

At the turn of the 20th century a rapid development of the tourism colonization space in the Medina of Marrakesh began, which consisted mostly of the conversion of historical dwelling houses into private residential hotels or guest houses. The aim of the article is to present a thorough study of the progressive changes in the distribution of quantitative features of the guest houses in various parts of this old town. The cartographical method was utilised, using maps presenting the localization of the guest houses and the average accommodation capacity indicator for buildings in various quarters of the Medina. The distribution of particular features is compared for selected years (1999, 2002, 2005 and 2008). Furthermore, the article engages in polemics with the remarks of other authors dealing with the subject, concerning the distribution of the guest houses and conditions of changes in the aforementioned process.

Four weak positional calculi are constructed and examined. They refer to the use of the connective of negation within the scope of the positional connective “R” of realization. The connective of negation may be fully classical, partially analogical or independent from the classical, truth- functional negation. It has been also proved that the strongest system, containing fully classical connective of negation, is deductively equivalent to the system MR from Jarmużek and Pietruszczak.

Ümraniye, which is a district of Istanbul, has been one of the leading centers of development in parallel with the development in outward–oriented economy and industrialization in the 1980’s in Turkey. The district which looked like a village in 1960s, having experienced rapid urbanisation and industrialisation, is now looking far from its earlier appearance. During the period of migration from suburbs to the cities, one of those who took in the biggest share of people is Ümraniye. The purpose of this study is to determine the historical development of industrialization in Ümraniye and the causes of this development, its structure, and the distribution of its sectors. As an operation of a regional industry, this study handles the features of the location of Ümraniye District, the factors that affect the industry in the district, distribution of industrial sectors, and environmental issues.

Like many Germanic languages, English has developed specific periphrastic constructions to express perfective meaning. Before being fully grammaticalized in the 16th century, they were used occasionally in Old and Middle English as complex verb phrases with either habban ‘to have’ or beon/wesan ‘to be’ acting as auxiliary verbs. By the Modern English period, forms created with be disappeared from the language and were almost completely replaced by forms with have, a process which did not occur, for instance, in German. As the data on this development are quite scarce, a relatively simple model is assumed with a steady diachronic progress towards the system established in Modern English, a model which disregards synchronic variation. This paper attempts to investigate the distribution of the perfective constructions with be and have, especially in the 15th century texts and to identify the main factors accounting for diff erences in their usage. Instead of taking into account only the diachronic aspect of the development described, the present study focuses mainly on investigating the synchronic variation in the auxiliaries used with the two most frequent verbs of motion, namely come and go in the perfective meaning.

Most investors believe that left tails of the stock returns distribution are heavier than the right ones. It is a natural consequence of crashes perception as much more turbulent than the booms. Crashes develop in shorter time intervals than booms and changes of prices are significantly bigger. This paper focuses on the extreme behavior of stock market returns. The differences in the tails thickness of distribution are negligible. Its main result is that the differences between tails have been found in the clustering of extremes, especially during the crash of 2007-2009.

Objectives: Polychlorinated naphthalenes (PCNs), like other persistent organic pollutants (POPs), are widespread, global environmental contaminants. These compounds still represent a great environmental problem, mostly because of the risk of secondary air pollution. They are characterized by long durability and tendency to bioaccumulate, which means that they are practically ubiquitous in all environmental media and ecosystems. The aim of this study was to investigate the distribution and excretion of hexachloronaphthalene (HxCN) in rats following a single intraperitoneal or intragastrical administration. Materials and Methods: Experiments were performed on male outbred Wistar rats with body weight of 220–240 g. They were given [¹⁴C]-HxCN intraperitoneally (i.p.) or intragastrically (p.o.) in a single dose of 0.3 mg (150 kBq) per rat. The distribution of radioactivity in blood and selected organs or tissues, as well as urine and faeces excretion were traced following the administration. Results: The decline of [¹⁴C]-HxCN in plasma was biphasic and the calculated half-lives for phases I and II were ~6 and 350 h, respectively. Following 120 h after administration, ~51% (intragastrical) and ~34% (intraperitoneal) of the dose were excreted with faeces. Regardless of the administration route, the highest HxCN concentrations were found in liver and adipose tissue, where the compound showed high retention: the highest retention in liver was found 24 h after intragastrical (32%) and intraperitoneal (38%) administration while in adipose tissue ~30% retention was observed 120 h after HxCN administration regardless of its route. Conclusions: Following the calculation of the balance of total [¹⁴C]-HxCN excreted and stored, it was found that hexachloronaphthalene belongs to the compounds of a slow turnover rate, and in the case of repeated exposure it may accumulate in the rat body.

The judgment of the Court of Justice of the European Union of 19 December 2019 concerns the issues of the digital market for ‘used’ electronic books, in particular the issue of exhaustion of the right to distribute digital copies of books protected by copyright. The Luxembourg Court has significantly developed its case-law regarding the exhaustion of copyright in the digital environment, in particular by explicitly qualifying the act of providing users with protected works by downloading them online. The position of the Luxembourg tribunal seems to exclude the possibility of dynamic interpretation of currently applicable normative solutions in the area of exhaustion of copyright. The Court ruled out the possibility of exhaustion of copyright when downloading an electronic book for permanent use and qualified the act as communication to the public. De lege lata, normative solutions in the area of exhaustion of copyright under EU law do not correspond to the existing economic, social and technological conditions. At the same time, the Court rejected the possibility of dynamic interpretation of applicable provisions. Not always the rigorous classification made by the Tribunal in its ruling will lead to higher protection of the interests of right holders and thus to achieving effet utile. It will deepen the already existing state of legal uncertainty and will support the adoption of internal solutions by digital goods suppliers and service providers.

The quadratic form of the sample mean and sample variance was considered. The sample is from normal distribution. The density function of the quadratic form has been derived. The quadratic form can be applied as the test statistic for the hypothesis on expected value and variance of normal distribution. The table with approximated critical values of the test statistic has been derived.

This paper is a study of register variation as observed in the distribution and productivity of English nominalizing suffixes. Little if anything is known from previous research about whether or not morphological structure beyond the nature of the rightmost affix is a conditioning factor in register variation. As a consequence, nominalizations ending in a particular affix, or virtually all nominalizations tend to be somewhat superficially treated as collectively more characteristic of one register than another. This study fills this research gap by showing that the suffixes exhibit preferences as to their occurrence in particular registers and that, in the case of the most common suffixes (-ness, -ity, -ion), the internal morphological make-up of their base forms may also significantly bear on their quantitative distributions. As regards morphological productivity, the suffixes will uncontroversially exhibit varied degrees of productivity. More interestingly, however, our analysis shows that the morphological constitution of the base form may still influence the probability of a new word coming into existence, and this probability will further be conditioned by register preferences.

Economists and lawyers are dealing with analysis of delivery channels, however all the time a penetrating analysis is missing. Researchers are creating their definitions of the delivery channel, they are leading different divisions intermediaries. There are a few legal documents concerning distribution of insurance in the Polish law but they contain a lot of errors, they are often contrary to oneself. To analyse delivery channels of insurance belongs in accordance with the act of 22 May 2003 on insurance mediation.

At the end of the Second World War, Lithuania was occupied by the Soviet Union for decades. The Soviet government was essentially atheistic and persecuted all religious activities. Literature was very important for religious education, but it was destroyed, and the printing of new literature was forbidden and even punishable by imprisonment or other penalties. However, enthusiasts emerged who, under such conditions, began writing, reprinting and distributing periodicals and individual publications. These books included translations mainly from Polish or German. Monks, priests, and laymen did a great deal of work in the field of self-publishing. In particular, members of the Sisters’ Congregation of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Immaculate Conception of the Poor, popularly known as the Sisters of the Poor, were involved in the distribution of such underground books. They distributed religious literature, were persecuted and persecuted, but their contribution to the development of a Catholic society was felt. After the end of the Soviet era, the nuns, and the return of individual residences to the old monastery buildings brought with them “secret” books and created a rich library worthy of research attention.

Formulaic competence is a hotly debated issue in teaching circles, not only because of its role in L2 communication but also due to the inherent complexity of the identification criteria for formulaic strings. While the mixed approach, combining meaning-based and corpus- based identification measures, remains a natural solution, the subjective character of the criteria, together with the required involvement of native experts, diminishes its attractiveness for every-day pedagogical purposes. We would like to explore the potential of “corpus-only” identification tools. Specifically, our objective is to show that meaningless n-grams (of the, in a, etc.) generated by frequency searches contain useful pedagogical data, and that, coupled with MI scores frequency-based measures accurately characterize learners’ formulaic competence. Because of the relative simplicity of the identification procedure and free availability of corpus tools, frequency-based and distribution-based measures may become an important new pedagogical tool at the disposal of language teachers

The objective of the article is to identify and explain the relationship between spa services distribution and spa specialization in Kujawsko-Pomorskie, Pomorskie and Podkarpackie Voivodeships spa communes. Correlation and regression analysis were used based on data from the Local Data Bank and unpublished data sets from the Central Statistical Office of Poland. In order to explain the relation between spa services distribution and spa specialization, time-series analysis was used. In five of nine researched communes (Horyniec-Zdrój, Solina, Ustka, Ciechocinek and Inowrocław) there is a functional relationship between spa services distribution and spa specialization.
