Reverend Professor Jan Wal in his research and didactic work has shown the directions of the revival of pastorate and the need of changes in thinking and in pastoral activities. Undoubtedly his research has contributed to a revival of the concept of pastoral theology in Poland. The main fields he worked on were making both the clergy and the laity more sensitive to the social dimension of pastorate and evangelization, the need of a dialog in the Church and in the Polish society, making charity theology more profound, and intensification of charity work.

The article deals with the so-called community centers in the Archdiocese of Prague, which was established by the Catholic Church in large housing estates, where during Communism it was not allowed to build churches and corresponding infrastructure. The study reflects the programs these centers offer in terms of practical theology and theological concept of community work. Some findings suggest that community work is not realized in the centers explicitly, however, pastoral work of the centers contains significant elements of theological concept of community work.

Artykuł prezentuje tzw. archidiecezjalne ośrodki komunikacji kulturowej w Pradze Czeskiej, które zostały ustanowione przez Kościół katolicki w dużych osiedlach mieszkaniowych, gdzie w czasie komunizmu nie wolno było budować kościołów i odpowiedniej infrastruktury duszpasterskiej. Konkretnie chodzi o Centrum św. Prokopa i Centrum Matki Teresy z Kalkuty. Studium zawiera refleksję nad programami, jakie te ośrodki oferują zlaicyzowanym mieszkańcom Pragi. Punktem odniesienia prowadzonej refleksji jest teologia praktyczna i katolicka nauka społeczna. Niektórzy sugerują, że różne formy pracy społecznej realizowane w praskich centrach kulturowych nie mają wiele wspólnego z duszpasterstwem. Jednak duszpasterstwo ma charakter dialogowy, dlatego każde spotkanie z człowiekiem stwarza okazję na zbliżenie go do Boga i do Kościoła. Ludzie obojętni religijnie korzystający z oferty socjalnej centrów kulturowych w Pradze poprzez dialog z wierzącymi mogą odkryć na nowo piękno wiary chrześcijańskiej. Sens tworzenia centrów kulturowych w zlaicyzowanych społecznościach wielkomiejskich polega właśnie na stwarzaniu jak najwięcej okazji do spotkania ludzi niewierzących, agnostyków i zdystansowanych od Kościoła z tymi, którzy są gotowi dać świadectwo swojej wiary w Boga i radości bycia we wspólnocie Kościoła.
