The article presents the most important research perspective regarding women’s and girls’ diary writing in English, French and Polish. The analysis discusses major works on the women’s autobiographical writing, monographs and collective works on diaries. Contrary to appearances, at the beginning the autobiographical turn in the feminist criticism did not include the diaries written by girls and women – as paraliterary, imperfect texts. On the fringes of the feminist interest in diaries were the French studies (including Philippe Lejeune, the most outstanding researcher in this subject) and still rudimentary studies in Poland. The lack of interest in the Polish personal diaries, it seems, results from the lack of bibliographic studies and an extensive editorial project, which would disclose a great number of texts of significant value for our diary writing hidden in the archives.

The article is an editorial analysis of the fragments of a diary found in the archives of the National Library in Warsaw (manuscript 5905 II), which belonged to Maria Faleńska, a translator, writer, columnist, and wife of poet Felicjan Faleński. The text is published for the first time and it consists of six pages of the diary dated between 1879-1893 and a single page entitled Silva rerum with citations and golden thoughts. It depicts a portrait of an intelligent, educated and reserved woman, showing a lively interest in a daily life of Warsaw of the second half of the 19th century of which she was a keen observer. The notes were taken very irregularly. The writer’s attention is focused on the outside world and the selection of described events (mainly tragic, such as deaths, illnesses, crimes etc.) and it seems to indicate her pessimistic attitude towards life.

This article analyses the similarities between literary blogs and personal diaries. A literary blog is a specific kind of personal diary in which the author focuses less on personal experience and instead on the outside world, or rather on a particular part of it: notes made on what he or she had read and on the literary life of his or her era. Personal motifs and elements from the author’s private life are marginal as they become part of a broader narrative in which books become central. The boundary between the personal and the public becomes highly fluid. This article shows how the interpenetration of the intime and extime worlds influences the definition of the literary blog as a genre.

Badaczka wykorzystuje ten materiał, by pokazać, jakie postawy krytyka i pisarza wyłaniają się z narracji o książkach.

This article is an attempt to define Instagram posts as a new form of personal journal. In the study, particular emphasis was placed on distinguishing the features of a personal diary characteristic of Instagram entries, comparing them on the example of texts by Julia Slyvka - a young writer, PhD, blogger from Ukraine. Both the history and the theory of autobiography, along with the evolution of literary discourse, changed their face, they became richer, thanks to taking into account the increasingly richer library of diverse personal document literature. In addition, the changes in reading practices were significantly influenced by new varieties of autobiographical genres created in the Internet space, especially on social networks. The literature of the personal document has largely moved to the Internet, especially during the pandemic, has gained a new form (it has been made public) and therefore is an interesting field for both researchers and authors.
