E-czytelnictwo studentów - wybrane konteksty

This article consists deliberations on students’ attitudes towards of e-reading. The author presents the results of the research conducted in 2009 and in 2012 among stationary and part-time studies at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, of such degrees as: Political Science, International Relations as Internal Security. The research results indicate that despite the growing offer, the interest in e-reading is decreasing. This disturbing tendency requires observation as well as undertaking action by universities, leading to greater use of electronic resources in educational process.

The aim of the article is to present modern readership habits and the impact of new technologies developmenton them. Those technologies and social changes can also pose a danger or provide support for the development ofreadership; however, the point is how to skilfully make use of them.Readership plays a significant role in modern societies. It is considered not only a socio-cultural tool giving peopleequal chances in life and facilitating dialogue between different cultures, but also an important economic development factor. Nevertheless, the level of readership keeps successively decreasing in developed countries. Poland is not an exception – on the contrary, the level of readership is decreasing faster than in other developed countries.This article is an outline of opportunities and barriers as well of new technologies affecting readership. The relationsbetween those opportunities or barriers and the level of readership are also discussed. The article includesa range of examples of positive solutions from abroad, suitable for introduction in Poland.

The author analyzes the results of an e-reading survey conducted among students of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Univer-sity of Bielsko-Biala. The purpose of the present article is the presentation of:1) social reach of e-books among selected respondents;2) preferences and motivations for spontaneous e-reading of students;3) ways of dealing with technological solutions which enable screen-based reading among the students of humanities and social sciences.

Autor poddaje analizie wyniki ankiety sondażowej dotyczącej e-czy-telnictwa, przeprowadzonej wśród studentów Wydziału Humanistyczno-Społecz-nego Akademii Techniczno-Humanistycznej w Bielsku Białej.Celem zaprezentowanego artykułu jest przybliżenie:1) społecznego zasięgu e-książek wśród wytypowanej grupy respondentów;2) preferencji i motywacji doboru lektur w spontanicznym e-czytaniu studen-tów;3) sposobów radzenia sobie przez studentów kierunków humanistyczno-spo-łecznych z rozwiązaniami technologicznymi umożliwiającymi czytanie z ekranu.
