The paper describes the role of local authorities of poviat and commune level in the Second Republic of Poland in the area of widely understood support for the functioning of education system in common schools in rural areas in the period between 1918-1939. The paper outlines the main rules of the functioning of local authorities, paying attention to its democracy between 1918-1926 and its drastic distortions and restrictions introduced by the political camp of Marshal Józef Pilsudski, particularly between 1933-1939 when the reform of local authorities was introduced in a way that it could be beneficial for this political camp. The subsequent part of the article presents, among others, forms of cultivating the memory about the teachers who fought for the Polish education under foreign occupation.

Aim: The purpose of this article is to present an outline of effortsmade by father Wacław Bliziński, a parson in the Lisków parish, to help families in the first half of the 20th century. Methods: The article was written based on documental analysis and interviews. The outline describes actions, and their effects, undertaken by father Bliziński, a priest who established an exemplary model of an early 20th century Polish village, turning Lisków into a symbol of progress. Results: This article presents examples of the initiatives of father Wacław Bliziński: stages of establishing ties with his parishioners’ families, educational activity on behalf of developing rural families, increasing the social commitment of families and women, and political activity. Conclusions: As a priest, social activist, minister and senator, father Wacław Bliziński acted to raise the level of education, culture, cooperation, social organisations and health.

Cel: Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie w zarysie działań podjętych przez księdza Wacława Blizińskiego – proboszcza z Liskowa na rzecz rodzin w pierwszej połowie XX wieku. Metody: W pracy wykorzystano metodę analizy dokumentów i wywiad. Wyniki: W opracowaniu przedstawione zostały działania i efekty pracy kapłana, który stworzył wzorowy model wsi polskiej początku XX wieku, a Lisków stał się symbolem postępu. W artykule wskazane zostały przykłady podejmowanych przez niego inicjatyw: etapy budowania więzi z rodzinami w parafii, działalność oświatowa na rzecz rozwoju rodzin wiejskich, inicjatywy społeczne na rzecz rodzin i kobiet oraz działalność polityczna. Wnioski: Jako kapłan, społecznik, poseł i senator działał na rzecz podniesienia poziomu oświaty, kultury, spółdzielczości, organizacji społecznych, zdrowia.
