This article presents the competencies of a headmaster of an educational facility which are required to manage it smoothly and effectively. The author draws attention to hard skills, such as knowledge and competencies, soft skills which belong to social competencies, and personality predispositions of a headmaster. It turns out that expertise is not enough to build and manage a team or achieve goals required for a given educational facility to succeed.

W artykule przedstawiono kompetencje dyrektora placówki oświatowej, które są niezbędne do sprawnego i skutecznego zarządzania nią. Autorka zwraca uwagę na umiejętności twarde, takie jak wiedza i kompetencje, umiejętności miękkie należące do kompetencji społecznych oraz predyspozycje osobowościowe dyrektora szkoły. Okazuje się, że wiedza specjalistyczna nie wystarczy do zbudowania zespołu i zarządzania nim czy osiągnięcia celów wymaganych dla powodzenia danej placówki edukacyjnej.
