Prezentowany artykuł podejmuje próbę określenia wymiarów edukacji dorosłych na emigracji. W artykule przedstawione zostały definicje edukacji formalnej, pozaformalnej i nieformalnej (incydentalnej). Celem artykułu jest ukazanie i zidentyfikowanie obszarów tych form edukacji. Autorka odnosi się do doświadczeń edukacyjnych emigrantów w Wielkiej Brytanii, gdyż, jak zakłada, jest to w Europie największa polska emigracja. W tekście można znaleźć przykłady form kształcenia oraz sytuacji codziennych, które mają charakter edukacyjny. Omówione zostały również najbardziej ogólne cechy polskiej emigracji, ze wskazaniem na jej obecne przyczyny. W tekście przytoczone są różne instytucje kształcące dorosłych w Anglii, są to tylko wybrane przykłady, napisane w oparciu o artykuły z gazety wydawanej w Bristolu oraz o doświadczenia emigrantów, studentów Polskiego Uniwersytetu Wirtualnego w Łodzi

The presented article makes an attempt at defining adult education of emigrants. Definitions for formal, non-formal and informal (incidental) education are presented in the article. The author discusses the educational experiences of emigrants in Great Britain, as she assumes this to be the largest emigrant community of Poles in Europe. The text discusses examples of forms of education and everyday situations that are educational in character. The most general traits of the Polish emigration were discussed with an indication of current reasons behind it. The text discusses different institutions in the field of adult education in Britain, these are only chosen examples, written on the basis of articles from a newspaper published in Bristol and experiences of emigrants, students of the Polish Virtual University [Polski Uniwersytet Wirtualny] in Łódź.
