Głównym celem projektu było określenie koniecznych i pożądanych zmian w metodyce i instrumentach zarządzania gospodarką przestrzenną w następstwie integracji Polski z Unią Europejską. W ramach projektu określono podstawowe uwarunkowania polskiej gospodarki przestrzennej wynikające z integracji z UE oraz wstępnie określono następstwa tych uwarunkowań dla gospodarki przestrzennej. Analiza uwarunkowań oraz przyszłych skutków integracji została przeprowadzona w odniesieniu do sfery gospodarki, ochrony środowiska, transportu oraz informatyzacji, oddziałujących pośrednio, ale w istotny sposób na gospodarkę przestrzenną.

The goal of the Project under discussion was to determine the necessary and desired changes in the methodology and instruments of land management as a result of the integration of Poland with the European Union. The participants of the Project determined basic operating conditions of the Polish spatial economy that result from country's integration with the EU and forecast preliminary consequences of such conditions in the area of spatial economy. The analysis of the Polish conditions and the future effects of integration was conducted with respect to economy, environmental protection, transportation and information technology, which areas affect spatial economy indirectly although essentially.
