Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie, na ile starzenie się ludności może być szansą dla rozwoju sektora ekonomii społecznej w Polsce. Zarysowano tutaj możliwości działania w obszarze usług opiekuńczych, ale też innych usług, ktore mogą być oferowane osobom starszym. Starsze osoby (zarowno pracownicy, jak i wolontariusze) mogą być istotnym zasobem dla podmiotow ekonomii społecznej, ale też trzeba mieć na uwadze pewne ograniczenia i problemy w działaniu organizacji z ich udziałem. Na końcu artykułu zamieszczono rekomendację, aby w systemie monitorowania podmiotow ekonomii społecznej uwzględniać dane o wieku osob, ktore w nich pracują (pracownikach), jak i o wolontariuszach. Podmioty ekonomii społecznej mogą dostosować swoją działalność do zmian demograficznych, ale ich oferta musi uwzględniać zmieniające się potrzeby odbiorcow ich usług. Podmioty ekonomii społecznej mogą być ważnymi aktorami w tworzeniu polityk na rzecz osob starszych na szczeblu lokalnym.

The aim of the paper is to show if and how demographic changes (population ageing) could be the opportunity for the social economy in Poland. First, the opportunities in the social care sector was outlined, as well as the other services that can be delivered to the old people. However, due to population ageing, it should be also stressed that the age of employees of the social enterprises should be taken into account in improved organizational management of human resource. The elder volunteers could constitute the resource ready to use but one should remember that– based on the study of the non-government organizations – the organizations face various problems and limitations of their members and clients due to their ageing. The paper recommends that the monitoring system for social economy entities should include the data about the age of their employees and volunteers. The social economy entities have to adjust their actions to demographic changes and their offer has to consider shifting needs of the clients. The social economy entities can become the important actors in policy making for the old people at the local level.
