Bruno Latour jest jednym z czołowych przedstawiciel teorii aktora-sieci. Choć jest to koncepcja socjologiczna, to autor Nigdy nie byliśmy nowocześni porusza wiele zagadnień, które są interesujące z filozoficznego punktu widzenia. Celem artykułu jest odczytanie twórczości Bruno Latoura jako oznaki symbolicznego „końca” postmodernizmu w filozofii. „Koniec” nie oznacza w tym kontekście, że postmodernizm – czymkolwiek był – dosłownie się skończył. Chodzi raczej o to, że francuski myśliciel pokazuje w swoich pracach ograniczenia postmodernistycznego sposobu myślenia. Latour polemizuje z trzema stanowiskami charakterystycznymi dla postmodernizmu: (1) społecznym lub kulturowym konstruktywizmem, (2) totalną krytyką ogólnie przyjętych w naszej kulturze poglądów oraz (3) daleko posuniętym sceptycyzmem poznawczym.

Bruno Latour is one of the key thinkers in actor-network theory. Although his conception is sociological, the author of We Have Never Been Modern takes into consideration theses which are interesting from a philosophical point of view. The aim of the article is to interpret Latour’s writings as a sign of the symbolic “end” of postmodernism in philosophy. “End” does not mean that postmodernism – whatever it was – is literally over. Rather, the French sociologist shows the limitations of the postmodern way of thinking. Latour argues against three attitudes which are characteristic of postmodernist stances: (1) social or cultural constructivism, (2) total criticism of the ideas which are generally accepted in our culture and (3) radical epistemological skepticism.
