Autor artykułu przedstawia warianty nowego rozumienia wychowania religijnego w epoce ponowoczesnej. Próbuje to uczynić z perspektywy historycznej i współczesnej, wskazując na fałszywe z gruntu i nieuzasadnione alternatywne myślenie o religii i wychowaniu jako rozwoju człowieka. Wychowanie religijne określane jest w artykule jako wychowanie wychodzące od człowieka i zorientowane na człowieka, czyli takie, w którym centralnym momentem procesu wychowawczego jest człowiek jako osoba. Tak rozumiane wychowanie religijne daje szansę, zdaniem autora na jego integralny rozwój. Artykuł dowodzi, że wychowanie religijne najpełniej realizuje rozwój osobowy człowieka połączony z pozytywną koncepcją jego wolności i z określonym wyobrażeniem dobra. Są to bez wątpienia czynniki warunkujące nie tylko możliwość określania własnej tożsamości, ale również umożliwiające pokonanie postmodernistycznych (ponowoczesnych) ambiwalencji rzeczywistości otaczającej współczesnego człowieka.

The author of the article presents the variants of new understanding of religious education in the epoch of postmodernity. He tries to do it from historical and contemporary perspectives, indicating the false and unjustified alternative thinking about religion and education as human development. In the article religious education is defined as education going out of a person and oriented towards a person, which means that a person as an individual is a central moment of educational process. In the author’s opinion, religious education understood in such a waygives an opportunity for a person’s integral development. The article proves that religious educationrealizes an individual person’s development together with the positive conceptionof human freedom and with the specific idea of good in the most complete way. No doubt those are the factors not only conditioning the possibility of defining a person’s own identity but also enabling overcoming the postmodern ambivalence of the reality that surrounds a contemporary human being.
