Stemming from assumption that Gross Domestic Product is an index oversimplifying economic development and not reflecting socio-economic development, the paper presents conceptualization, operationalization and estimation of Balanced Development Index (BDI), concerning both economic and social development in Poland. Actual values of this index as well as its four composite components (middle-level indexes) are presented for 1999-2013. A statistical model allowing estimation of BDI values as well as short-term forecasts is proposed alongside with the concept of balanced development. Application of this model for 1999-2016 is presented.

The Institutional Church in Poland in The Perceptions and Evaluations of High School and University Students: From Acceptance to Contestation

In this article, I present the results of my sociological research related to the attitudes of high school and university students towards institutional religion and the Church in Poland. The research was also focused on the role of the Church in religiosity and morality of the people. The studies were conducted in the years 2008 - 2011 among high school students in Kalisz (456) and students of the College of Communications and Management in Poznan (426). The method of research involved the use of an audit questionnaire, as well as the technique of “free interview” among 58 selected respondents (divided into two groups of 29 members). On the basis of the research results I present the perceptions and evaluations of the institutional Church by high school and university students, locating them within the paradigm of “acceptance to contestation.” The important aspects is the contestation of respondents towards the institutional Church – its religious and moral doctrines and certain actions of secular nature – observed in respondents’ opposition, resistance and rebellious attitudes. The article touches upon the following problems: the essence of the Church from the perspective of the respondents; fear of the Church and its related rites; trust and distrust of the respondents to the Church and its structures; social and political activity of the Church; the influence of the Church on the secular spheres of life and social development of a nation; authority of the Church in the society and the state; religious awareness of high school students. With this analysis, the following hypotheses are being verified: the relationships between demographic characteristics of respondents to their perception of the Church; the relationship between beliefs and practices of respondents to their perception of the Church; the relationship of faith and religious practices of the respondents to the levels of their awareness of the Church.

W artykule tym prezentuję fragment wyników moich badań socjologicznych na temat nastawienia młodzieży licealnej i akademickiej w Polsce do religii i Kościoła instytucjonalnego – do ich roli w religijności i moralności ludzi. Badania te zrealizowałem w latach 2007 – 2011 wśród licealistów w Kaliszu (456) i wśród studentów Wyższej Szkoły Komunikacji i Zarządzania w Poznaniu (426) z pomocą ankiety audytoryjnej, a także wśród 58 respondentów (po 29 z każdej grupy) stosując technikę wywiadu swobodnego. W tym artykule analizuję wyobrażenia i oceny badanych licealistów i studentów dotyczące Kościoła instytucjonalnego, które lokuję w paradygmacie „od akceptacji do kontestacji”. Ważną kwestią jest tu właśnie kontestacja respondentów wobec Kościoła instytucjonalnego – jego doktryny religijno-moralnej i niektórych działań świeckich, widoczna w ich sprzeciwie, oporze i buncie. Treść tego artykułu stanowią następujące problemy: istota Kościoła w ujęciu badanych; lęk badanych przed Kościołem i jego doktryną; zaufanie i nieufność badanych do Kościoła i uwarunkowania tego zaufania; społeczna aktywność Kościoła w ocenie badanych; wpływ Kościoła na świeckie sfery życia społecznego; autorytet Kościoła w społeczeństwie i państwie; świadomość kościelna badanych licealistów i studentów. W analizie tej weryfikuję następujące hipotezy badawcze: o związku cech demograficznych respondentów z ich nastawieniem do Kościoła; o związku wierzeń i praktyk religijnych respondentów z ich wyobrażeniami i ocenami dotyczącymi Kościoła; o związku wierzeń i praktyk religijnych z poziomem świadomości kościelnej respondentów.

Marital Love and its Determinants in the Catholic Concept in the Light of the Evaluations of High School and Academic Youth and Teachers of Family Life Education

In this article I present the evaluations of high school students, college students and teachers of Family Life Education concerning marital love and its conditions, including marital fidelity and betrayal. This presentation is based on the results of two of my sociological studies conducted in 2011 among the students of general and profiled high schools in Kalisz (456) and the students of the University of Communication and Management in Poznań (436) and in 2003 among the teachers of Family Life Education in Kalisz (186). The research was carried out using the diagnostic survey method, with the simultaneous application of the auditory questionnaire technique. The purpose of these surveys was to learn and present the attitudes and evaluations of respondents concerning marital love and its conditions - especially fidelity and betrayal.

W artykule tym ukazuję oceny licealistów, studentów i nauczycieli wychowania do życia w rodzinie dotyczące miłości małżeńskiej i jej uwarunkowań, w tym wierności i zdrady małżeńskiej. Prezentacja ta opiera się na wynikach dwóch moich badań socjologicznych zrealizowanych w 2011 roku wśród uczniów liceów ogólnokształcących i profilowanych w Kaliszu (456) i studentów Wyższej Szkoły Komunikacji i Zarządzania w Poznaniu (436) oraz w 2003 roku wśród nauczycieli wychowania do życia w rodzinie w Kaliszu (186). Badania te zostały zrealizowane metodą sondażu diagnostycznego, z jednoczesnym zastosowaniem techniki ankiety audytoryjnej. Celem ich było poznanie i prezentacja postaw i ocen respondentów dotyczących miłości małżeńskiej i jej uwarunkowań – zwłaszcza wierności i zdrady.
