Family is a community of people, which is the basic form of an individual and social life. The condition of the whole society depends on the condition of family and on the way it fulfils its fundamental functions. That is why family, being in the centre of the social life, is treated by the state as a subject of special care. The most important within this scope are of course the regulations of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland, the Family and Guardianship Code and the Penal Code. Being a part of society, family, the same as society, is not indifferent to diverse external stimuli that exert an influence on it. In our times, what has an enormous impact on family is the mass media, which has become an intrinsic element of our life. The picture of family can be depicted best on the example of the audio-visual media, which is the most attractive in reception yet exerts the strongest impact on its audience. But the ideas conveyed by the audio-visual media distort the picture of family, lead to the reversal of social roles and parental conduct, propagate partnership, exaggerate social pathologies and promote a hedonistic and consumerist stance. Moreover, one can notice a kind of „worship” of wrongly understand tolerance, interpreted as toleration towards marital infidelity, abortion and the lack of responsibility for the upbringing of the young generation. The mass media propagates its vision of marital and family life as well as behaviour in family, which are based on the current cultural and social trends adjusted to the expectations of a spectator – the consumer of audio-visual programmes.

Przeobrażający się model współczesnej rodziny w niniejszym artykule przyjęto za klucz do odczytania pojawiających się w Epoce Lodowcowej postaci oraz wytwarzanych między nimi relacji. W charakterystyce postaci odniesiono się również do wytypowanych w badaniach Deborah S. David i Roberta Brannona czterech imperatywów konstruujących tradycyjny paradygmat męskości oraz charakterystyki zestawionych z nimi bohaterów współczesnych animacji zaproponowanej przez Arkadiusza Lewickiego. Podjęto próbę rekonstrukcji modelu rodziny zaproponowanego przez twórców omawianych animacji w zestawieniu z modelami tradycyjnym i współczesnym, obecnymi w literaturze przedmiotu. W analizie zagadnienia odniesiono się również do szerszego tła funkcjonowania współczesnej rodziny, ale i tekstów kultury.

In this paper the transforming model of the modern family is considered as a key to the description emerging in Ice Age characters and the relationships between them. In the description of the characters a reference is made to the studies of Deborah S. David and Robert Brannon on the four imperatives used for constructing the traditional paradigm of masculinity and Arkadiusz Lewicki’s observations about modern animation heroes connected with them. There is also an attempt of reconstructing the family model proposed by the authors of these animations in combination with traditional and contemporary models presented in the reference books and papers. In the analysis of the issue there is also a reference to the wider background of the functioning of the modern family as well as cultural texts

Family is one of the most important social groups found in society. Nowadays we can observe many changes which are taking place in traditional family model. Currently, there are more and more incomplete families and homosexual relationships and complete families often differ from traditional family model. This article presents the results of research on contemporary family models and students’ plans for their family future. The study was designed to answer the question: What are the students’ opinions about contemporary family models and their own future? The results show that students see their future similarly to the traditional family model. There is also a very high tolerance towards homosexual relationships. We can also observe a lower importance of getting married. 70% of respondents believe that getting married is not necessary to start a family.

Rodzina jest jedną z najistotniejszych grup społecznych występujących w społeczeństwie. Obecnie możemy zaobserwować wiele zmian, które zachodzą w tradycyjnym modelu rodziny. Współcześnie występuje coraz więcej rodzin niepełnych oraz związków homoseksualnych, a rodziny pełne często różnią się od tradycyjnego modelu rodziny. W niniejszym artykule zaprezentowano wyniki badań dotyczące współczesnych modeli rodziny oraz planów na przyszłość rodzinną studentów. Badanie miało na celu odpowiedzieć na pytanie: Jakie są opinie studentów na temat współczesnych modeli rodziny oraz własnej przyszłości? Uzyskane wyniki pokazują, że studenci widzą swoją przyszłość podobnie do tradycyjnego modelu rodziny. Występuje też bardzo wysoka tolerancja wobec związków homoseksualnych. Można zaobserwować także mniejsze znaczenie zawierania małżeństw. Aż 70% badanych uważa, że zawarcie małżeństwa nie jest koniecznie do założenia rodziny.

W publikacji autorka prezentuje następujące zagadnienia: 1. Rodzina jako wspólnota życia społecznego. 2. Kierunki przemian życia rodzinnego. 3. Instytucja życia rodzinnego na rozdrożu współczesności.
