The author examines leaflet publicity and the relationship between Ferdinand I and the city of Prague. Her prime focus is on most of German leaflets concerning the journey of Ferdinand and Anne Jagiello from Vienna to Prague (1527), acceptance of the royal pair by the Crown towns and estates in Bohemia and Moravia, the entry into the capital, the King’s and Queen’s coronation, and the subsequent festivities. She briefly mentions other relevant types of leaflet publicity concerning the ruler, documenting events in Prague, and the city’s transformations under his rule.

a2_Súčasne sa ukázalo, že obrazová skúsenosť, ktorú produkujú socialisticko – realistické obrazy-výjavy-scény je nedoddeliteľne zviazaná s „pojmami sveta vonku“, teda s textom (naratívnym konštruktom), ktorý organizuje ich recepciu a produkciu zmyslu vo vedomí príjemcu. Správajú sa teda ako V. Flusserom analyzované „technické obrazy“. Práve táto väzba na „ústredný text“ a s tým súvisiaca kontrolovaná obraznosť zakladajú podľa autora štúdie, okrem iného, aj základný rozdiel medzi princípom „voľnosti asociácií“, ktorý charakterizoval historickú umeleckú avantgardu a dostredivou konotatívnosťou obraznosti socialistického realizmu.

Sokol, Deutsche Turnerschaft, Deutscher Turnerbund, Turnkreis Deutsch-Österreich, Deutscher Turnerbund 1919, and Deutscher Turnverband – the names of the six nationalist-leaning gymnastic organisations that existed in Central Europe between the 1860s and the 1930s and that also took in clubs in the territory of what is now the Czech Republic. Different types of festivities were organised at all of the organisations specified, at a club, district, county (sometimes regional), and federation-wide level, one stable part of which was the parade. The paper submitted, which draws on the input of ethnology, the history of ideas, and the history of sport, aims to capture, using federation press, souvenir publications, and various handbooks, how the make-up of the participants in nationalist gymnastic federation parades changed over time, the changes to what those involved in the parades wore, what objects they carried with them, how they marched, and how they behaved. Given that each detail of the ceremonial parades concealed therein a certain symbolic significance, the parades of the federations under consideration can be seen as mirrors reflecting the ideas that were officially held and promoted in those federations. The study therefore also elaborates an effort to recognise which thoughts were reflected in the parades as a result of the presence of certain groups and their attire, objects, movement, and behaviour.

This study analysis the late medieval central functions and festive culture of the both royal residential and capital cities of Cracow and Buda in the Kingdoms of Poland and Hungary with a special focus on the country-wide and capital specific features of the cult and processional veneration of the Eucharist. Providing a historical and comparative context the paper first presents the fourteenth-fifteenth-century central and festive functions of the two cities and the arrival of the Eucharistic cult, confraternities and processions to the bishopric and civic spheres within the two countries. In the following part, as a main focus, the article intensively explores how late medieval secular, especially local civic and royal political intentions introduced their agenda and exploitation strategies into the festive celebration of Corpus Christi in Cracow and Buda.

This study presents an interesting memoir about the Congress of Vienna. La Garde-Chambonas, a French aristocrat, went to Vienna in 1814 to participate in the life of the city during the Congress. This book is a very good source for getting acquainted with the life of the European aristocracy in the capital of the Habsburg Monarchy. The author of the memoir presents a lot of personalities, rulers as Alexander I of Russia, Isabey, the famous painter and others. But first of all he writes about Prince of Ligne, his patron in Vienna. Before the presentation of the life in Vienna, the study deals with some questions of organisation regarding the Congress.

This article focuses on the hitherto rather neglected subject of panegyric works dedicated to the sovereign, Matthias Habsburg. In connection with the key moments in his career — his selection as King and ultimately Emperor, his marriage and coronation — the Czech lands saw the creation of literary works that played a part in the display of his sovereign power and majesty. The growing importance of national languages can be observed in their composition. Initially extensive prose descriptions (reports) were printed in Czech, authored by Jiří Závěta of Závětice. These went on to inspire the Czech songs of Sixtus Palma Močidlanský. Literature written in German is represented in particular by Matthias Hoë of Hoënegg’s homage sermon. Contrasting with the few (and hence important) literary works in national languages there is a large quantity of Latin panegyric prose and poetry presented in a representative selection in this study. Apart from the literary genres that de facto permeate all the languages (reports, sermons, panegyric speeches and poems, songs, prayers and dramas), attention is also paid to the conception of the monarch’s personality in celebratory literature, as well as the form and intention of individual works and the reception of antique literature as an integral part of the celebration of the sovereign power tradition. Almost without exception, the literary works presented had their pragmatic objectives, but higher literary ambitions and more demanding literary stylizations are not abandoned.

Článek se soustředí na dosud spíše opomíjené téma panegyrické tvorby věnované panovníkovi, konkrétně Matyáši Habsburskému. V souvislosti se zásadními okamžiky jeho kariéry – volba králem a posléze císařem, sňatek, korunovace – vznikala v českých zemích literární díla, která se podílela na manifestaci jeho panovnické moci a majestátu. Na jejich složení je možné pozorovat rostoucí význam národních jazyků. Poprvé jsou tištěny rozsáhlé prozaické popisy (relace) v češtině, jejichž autorem byl Jiří Závěta ze Závětic. Jimi inspirované jsou české písně Sixta Palmy Močidlanského. Německy psaná literatura je zastoupena zejména holdovacím kázáním Matthiase Hoë z Hoëneggu. Oproti nepočetným, ale o to významnějším literárním dílům v národních jazycích stojí velké množství latinské panegyrické prózy a poezie, představené ve studii v reprezentativním výběru. Kromě literárních druhů prostupujících de facto napříč jazyky (relace, kázání, panegyrické řeči a básně, písně a modlitby, drama) je věnována pozornost také pojetí osobnosti panovníka v oslavné literatuře, formě a intenci jednotlivých děl i recepci antické literatury jako nedílné součásti oslavy tradice panovnické moci. Prezentovaná literární díla měla prakticky bez výjimky pragmatické cíle, přesto se nevzdávají vyšších slovesných ambicí a náročnější literární stylizace.
