Przestępstwa gospodarcze towarzyszą ludzkości niemal od samego początku, trzeba jednak zaznaczyć, że należą do tych najbardziej wyrafinowanych oraz najtrudniejszych do wykrycia, gdyż najczęściej popełniane są pod przykrywką legalności, tj. prowadzenia rzeczywiście istniejącego przedsiębiorstwa. Ponadto tego typu czyny zabronione występują niemal w każdej sferze rzeczywistości społeczno-gospodarczej. Dlatego też z czasem pojawiła się potrzeba usystematyzowania powstałych na przestrzeni lat kategorii naukowych oraz siatek pojęciowych. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest uporządkowanie istniejących teorii i definicji dotyczących przestępstw gospodarczych oraz ich sprawców.

The study of economic crime has had an uneven history. Over the last few centuries, writers have offered a variety of definitions of economic offenses and theories that use an economic approach to crime. Throughout this period, interest in economic crime and the economic approach to offending has ebbed and flowed. In this article the author presents the evolution of the phenomenon and reorganizes existing theories. She explains the essence of today’s economic crimes and also describes types of offenders.
