The present paper is devoted to contemporary nomenclature of Polish ampelonyms. The conducted analysis of excerpts has shown that the process of their naming works in a similar way as it does in the case of other chrematonyms. The most common naming techniques are transonimization and onimization. This is how 73.4% of all analysed names originated, mostly from proprial bases (57.1%) and appellative bases (16.3%). Derivation was used to form 24% of the names, most of the ampelonyms were created by means of syntactic derivation which leads to the creation of names as a compound structure or a prepositional phrase - so much as 18.3% of all analysed onyms. The naming of vineyards is distinguished by a significant amount of words derived from toponyms (which are connected with viniculture conditions) and words derived from anthroponyms (indicating possessive and family character of vineyards).

Both the general theory of proper names and the individual sub-disciplines of onomastics use terminology appropriate to their research objectives and methodology. The basic scientific terms in onomastics, starting with proper name/onym, can be regarded as taxonomic operators, which allow the ordering of onomastic facts. The need for appropriate research terminology is also met in one of the youngest branches of nomenclature, i.e. chrematonomastics. The set of taxonomic operators in the field of chrematonymy includes the term markonym ‘brand name’ identified with marketing chrematonym and confronted with other terminological concepts such as firmonym, logonym or ergonym and pragmatonym, and, finally, descriptively included trade name or trademark. The markonym is recognised as the universal taxonomic operator of business naming, referring to both company and product/service names. The content and scope of the markonym relates to the broad idea of a brand, remaining a linguistic structure that focuses interdisciplinary, especially communicative and marketing properties.

Zarówno ogólna teoria nazw własnych, jak i poszczególne subdyscypliny onomastyki stosują właściwą dla swoich celów badawczych i metodologii terminologię. Podstawowe terminy naukowe w onomastyce, poczynając od „nazwy własnej”/„onimu”, można uznać za operatory taksonomiczne, które pozwalają porządkować fakty onomastyczne. Potrzebę zastosowania odpowiedniej terminologii badawczej zaspokaja się także w jednym z najmłodszych działów nazewnictwa, tj. chrematonomastyce. Do zestawu operatorów taksonomicznych w obszarze chrematonimii włącza się termin „markonim” utożsamiany z „chrematonimem marketingowym” i konfrontowany z innymi konceptami terminologicznymi, takimi jak „firmonim”, „logonim” czy też „ergonim” i „pragmatonim”, a wreszcie opisowo ujęta „nazwa handlowa” oraz „znak towarowy”. Markonim uznany zostaje za uniwersalny operator taksonomiczny nazewnictwa gospodarczego, odnosząc się zarówno do nazw firm, jak i produktów/usług. Treść i zakres markonimu nawiązuje do szeroko pojętej idei marki, pozostając strukturą językową, która skupia na sobie właściwości komunikacyjno-marketingowe.
