Artykuł prezentuje losy i cechy najsłynniejszych zbójców Górnego Śląska oraz Zagłębia Dąbrowskiego: Eliasza, Pistulki, Malarskiego i innych. Autor wskazuje na obecność identycznych lub podobnych motywów łączących opowieści o zbójcach i bohaterach zbiorowych. Treści obecne w tego typu tekstach podporządkowane są bowiem nie faktom a funkcjom, jakie owe narracje pełnią – nie znajdziemy w nich prawdy, a realizację pewnych istotnych społecznych potrzeb.

This article presents the fate and characteristics of the most famous outlaws of Górny Śląsk (Eng. Upper Silesia) and Zagłębie Dąbrowskie (Eng. Dąbrowa Basin) such as Eliasz, Pistulka, Malarski and others. The author points to the existence of identical or similar motifs linking the stories of villains and collective heroes. The contents of such texts are not determined by the facts but by the functions that such narratives play – we will not find the truth in them, but the realization of some important social needs.

Jednym ze sposobów analizy funkcjonowania wspólnoty jest badanie generowanych przez nią opowieści. Niezrozumiałe zjawiska i zdarzenia, wojny, katastrofy i inne niebezpieczeństwa, które dotykają społeczność, powołują do życia teksty informujące, mitologizujące osoby i fakty, mające na celu usensownienie wydarzeń oraz przywrócenie poczucia bezpieczeństwa. Wydarzenia znacznej rangi powodują, że wiele różnych grup odczuwa potrzebę wygłoszenia opinii, obaw, oczekiwań, jak każdy kryzys zmusza społeczność do wyrażenia wyobrażeń o rzeczywistości i sobie w formie opowieści. W artykule analizie poddane zostaną teksty: integrujące, informujące, kompensujące, ostrzegające, zapisane przez autorkę podczas badań terenowych w Zagłębiu Dąbrowskim w latach 1999-2004.

One way to analyse the functioning of a community is to study the stories generated by it. Incomprehensible phenomena and events, wars, disasters and other threats that affect a community result in the creation of informative texts that mythologise people and facts. Such texts are aimed at giving sense to the occurring events and restoring the community’s sense of security. Confronted with events of considerable importance, many different groups feel the need to express their opinions, share fears and expectations, as each crisis forces the community to express ideas about the reality and about the community itself in the form of stories. This article analyses texts of different character: integrating, informative, compensatory or cautionary, gathered by the author during her field research in Zagłębie Dąbrowskie (Eng. Dąbrowa Basin) between 1999 and 2004.

The author presents two volumes of the materials collected by Agnieszka Przybyła-Dumin during her field studies in the region of Zagłębie Dąbrowskie (Eng. Dąbrowa Basin) between 1999 and 2004. This collection embraces over a thousand different genres of folklore tales, carefully transcribed with attention given to the authentic properties of narrations, which makes this publication a rich and valuable source material.

Autor prezentuje dwa tomy materiałów zebranych przez Agnieszkę Przybyłę-Dumin podczas badań terenowych w Zagłębiu Dąbrowskim w latach 1999-2004. Zbiór ten stanowi ponad tysiąc opowieści różnych gatunków prozy folklorystycznej transkrybowanych z zachowaniem właściwości wypowiedzi narratorów, przez co stanowi cenny i bogaty materiał źródłowy.

Motyw kazirodztwa w polskim folklorze tradycyjnym

The article proposes an analysis of traditional folklore texts with regard to the motif of incest between sister and brother. The author points out that although the title motif is occasionally referred to explicitly, its veiled forms seem to occur almost universally, especially in folklore prose. At the same time references to incest symbolism can also be found in specific ritual situations. The author argues that the popularity of this motif is a reverberation of old mythological images stemming from a marriage between siblings.

Artykuł przynosi analizę tradycyjnych przekazów ludowych w perspektywie uobecnianego w nich motywu kazirodztwa między siostrą i bratem. Autor zwraca uwagę, że jakkolwiek tytułowy motyw sporadycznie jest przywoływany wprost, to jednak jego zawoalowane formy wydają się występować niemal powszechnie zwłaszcza w prozie ludowej, a przy tym odwołania do symboliki incestualnej można odnaleźć także w konkretnych sytuacjach obrzędowych. Zdaniem autora popularność tego motywu jest pogłosem dawnych mitologicznych wyobrażeń, dla których kanwą był związek małżeński między rodzeństwem.
