The propaedeutic stage is now an integral part of the formation for the priesthood. The article presents the documents of the Church concerning this aspect of formation starting from the Second Vatican Council. By presenting and analyzing successive documents on priestly formation, the author presents a progressive development of the idea of the propaedeutical period up to the latest document The Way of Priestly Formation in Poland. The motives for introducing this stage, the assumed goals, and the means for formation are presented. The article also discusses the difficulties connected with the necessity of introducing the one-year propaedeutical stage in Polish seminaries, associated, among others, with the small number of candidates or the lack of a detailed educational program. The author also points to the possibility of taking advantage of the experience of some dioceses in Poland related to this stage of formation (in several seminaries, such a stage has already been introduced).

Etap propedeutyczny stanowi aktualnie integralną część formacji do kapłaństwa. W artykule zostają ukazane dokumenty Kościoła dotyczące tego aspektu formacji począwszy od Soboru Watykańskiego II. Autor przedstawiając i analizując kolejne dokumenty poświęcone formacji do kapłaństwa, prezentuje postępujący rozwój idei okresu propedeutycznego aż do najnowszego dokumentu Droga formacji prezbiterów w Polsce. Ukazane zostają zarówno motywy wprowadzenia tego etapu, zakładane cele oraz środki służące formacji. Artykuł podejmuje również trudności związane z koniecznością wprowadzenia rocznego etapu propedeutycznego w polskich seminariach duchownych, związane między innymi z małą liczbą zgłaszających się kandydatów czy brakiem przygotowanego szczegółowego programu wychowawczego. Autor wskazuje również na możliwość skorzystania z doświadczeń niektórych diecezji w Polsce związanych z tym etapem formacji (w kilku seminariach duchownych już wcześniej taki etap był wprowadzany).

This article presents the Church’s vision for the pastoral formation of candidates for the priesthood. Specifically, the concept for formation contained in the new The Gift of the Priestly Vocation: Ratio Fundamentalis Institutionis Sacerdotalis (2016) will be presented in light of the teachings of the Second Vatican Council and post-conciliar popes, including St. John Paul II, Benedict XVI, and Francis. Local churches, including those in Poland, can adapt and implement this concept of pastoral formation in major seminaries. This analysis will focus on initial pastoral formation, the nature and aims of pastoral formation, and the study of pastoral theology and pastoral practices in preparation for the priesthood.

W artykule przedstawiona została wizja formacji pastoralnej kandydatów do kapłaństwa nakreślona w nauczaniu Kościoła współczesnego. Na tle nauczania Soboru Watykańskiego II oraz papieży doby posoborowej, przede wszystkim św. Jana Pawła II i wskazań Benedykta XVI i Franciszka, została przedstawiona koncepcja zawarta w nowym Ratio fundamentalis institutionis sacerdotalis. Koncepcja ta zostanie zaadaptowana przez Kościoły lokalne, w tym także Kościół w Polsce i skierowana do realizacji w wyższych seminariach duchownych. W analizach zawartych w artykule uwaga została zwrócona na formację pastoralną jako etap formacji początkowej, naturę i cele formacji pastoralnej oraz na studium teologii pastoralnej i praktyki duszpasterskie w programie przygotowania do kapłaństwa.

Te Holy Scriptures Lectures at the St. John Paul II Major Seminary of the Dio-cese of Siedlce from 1918 to 2018 Tis article was intended to show how the St. John Paul II Major Seminary of the Diocese of Siedlce over the last hundred years fulflled the basic requirement of formation for the priesthood, which is the intellectual introduction of alumni into the knowledge of the Holy Scriptures. In the 20th century, the Church in Poland experienced many dif-fculties connected above all with the First and Second World Wars and the communist regime. Nevertheless, the seminary of the Diocese of Siedlce, thanks to the continuous reading of the current Magisterium’s guidelines and the involvement of more and more educated lecturers, constituted an environment for preparing alumni for the demanding and responsible ministry of the Word.

Artykuł ma za zadanie odpowiedzieć na pytanie – na czym polega połączenie kapłaństwa Jezusa Chrystusa z Jego Sercem, jak również z naszym ministerialnym „kapłaństwem na wzór Serca Jezusowego”. Wskazuje na fakt, że nowe święto Jezusa Chrystusa Najwyższego i Wiecznego Kapłana jest na wskroś chrystologiczne, dlatego też mówiono w historii kultu Serca Jezusa o Jego kapłańskim Sercu, zwłaszcza w tradycji francuskiej szkoły duchowości berulliańskiej, z której wyrasta duchowość L. Dehona. Całość rozważań opiera się na inspiracjach płynących z tekstów mszy o Jezusie Chrystusie Najwyższym i Wiecznym Kapłanie, a zwłaszcza z jego biblijnych czytań, skąd wypływa kierunek dla formacji do kapłaństwa na wzór Serca Jezusa. Te liturgiczne i biblijne teksty są dopełnieniem rozumienia kapłaństwa w ujęciu o. Leona Dehona, a także mogą nadać mu nowy dynamizm i kierunek dalszego rozwoju.

The article is intended to answer the question – what is the connection of the priesthood of Jesus Christ with his Heart, as well as with our ministerial „priesthood on design of the Heart of Jesus”. He points to the fact that the new feast of Our Lord Jesus Christ, The Eternal High Priest is thoroughly christological, therefore it was said in the history of the cult of the Heart of Jesus about His priestly Heart, especially in the tradition of the French school of Berullian spirituality, from which the spirituality of L. Dehon grows. All the reflections are based on the inspirations flowing from the texts of the Holy Mass on Our Lord Jesus Christ, The Eternal High Priest, and especially his biblical readings, from where the direction for the formation to the priesthood on design of the Heart of Jesus. These liturgical and biblical texts complement the understanding of the priesthood in the light of Fr. Leon Dehon, and can give it new dynamism and direction for further development.
