Twenty percent of radio audience in Poland (which is around five millions people) declares to listen to this medium in a workplace. The rate of such listeners in Poland has been growing constantly for the last six years, as the nation wide research Radio Track by Millward Brown indicates. Presented paper is one of the steps in research conducted to answer the question about the radio’s impact on the listeners in their working environment. Its results are based on the survey provided among one hundred twenty people, who declared to listen to the radio in their workplace. As the border between work and leisure seems to be more and more uncertain, such studies seem important to describe the contemporary mode of radio reception.

Статтю присвячено дослідженню жанрової трансформації та специфіки оповідань Елеанор Ходжман Портер. Розглянуто ознаки та проблеми жанрових новоутворень, окреслено коло наукових розвідок за означеною темою. Акцентовано увагу на жанровій специфіці циклу оповідань Е. Портер «Short Stories». Досліджено розвиток та виокремлено основні тенденції жанрової трансформації оповідань письменниці в історико-літературному та ідейно-естетичному контексті.

The article is devoted to the study of genre transformation and the specifics of the stories by Eleanor Hodgman Porter. The signs and problems of new genre formations are considered, the range of scientific researches of the mentioned theme is outlined. The emphasis is placed on the genre specificity of the cycle of stories by E. Porter called “Short stories”. The development and the main tendencies of the genre transformation of the writer's stories in the historical-literary and ideological-aesthetic context are extracted.

Synkretyzm gatunkowy powieści współczesnej (na podstawie powieści Zulejka otwiera oczy Guzel Jachiny) W artykule na przykładzie powieści Zulejka otwiera oczy Guzel Jachiny ujawniane są cechy współczesnej powieści, a szczególnie synkretyzm gatunkowy, przejawiający się w hybrydyzacji formuł gatunkowych. Przedmiotem badań jest model powieściowy, w którym w ramach jednego utworu nastąpiło połączenie i przekształcenie formuł gatunkowych oraz różnych cech nowatorskich. W tekście przeanalizowane zostały kolejno przejawy synkretyzmu gatunkowego w powieści Jachiny: wykorzystanie wyznaczników powieściowych realizmu socjalistycznego i realizmu magicznego oraz intermedialność. Według autorki artykułu zastosowane zabiegi pozwalają na ukazanie wielopoziomowego konfliktu, który poszerza granice narracji.

This article uses the example of the novel Zuleikha opens her eyes by Guzel Yakhina to identify some features of the modern novel: genre syncretism, manifested in the hybridisation of genre formulas. The subject of the study is the model of a novel in which, within the framework of a single work, genre formulas and features of various traits of the novel are merged and transformed. The novel’s genre syncretism manifests itself in the use of multi-level conflict, which contributes to the expansion of the boundaries of the narrative.
