The paper is a critical review of the book entitled New Urban Poetics (ed. M. Roszczynialska, K. Wądolny-Tatar, Kraków 2015), which, in the author’s opinion, is a valuable source of new interpretative concepts in the field of geopoetics and ‘philological branch’ of urban studies. The book is a result of a conference held in Kraków in the autumn of 2013. It provides an overview of new theoretical ideas and analyses of contemporary Polish literary works, which can be considered as a reflection of the current condition of Polish geopoetics, as well as an inspiration for the upcoming projects.

The subject of reflections in this article is the phenomenon of topographic imagination of Sławomir Mrożek. Tracking traces of autobiographical places in the writer’s works, the author attempts to explain the reasons for his little interest in the geographic concrete as a literary material as well as to answer the question what functions these places fulfill in "Dziennik powrotu" [A Journal of Return] and "Baltazar. Autobiografia" [Balthasar. Autobiography]. In her opinion, both the scarce presence of autobiographic places in the earlier works of Mrożek, as well as their appearance in the works referred to, remains in connection with the problem of the identity of the writer, who throughout most of his life struggled with the sense of non-existence, and after the stroke he had to redefine himself and his place in the world.

The processes of technological progress create new opportunities for economic, social and cultural growth, shape new relations between economic entities and their environment, and influence changes in the determinants of entrepreneurship development. These processes vary significantly in certain geographic locations, characterised by an enormous diversity of natural, social, economic and cultural structures. As a consequence, this creates different opportunities and different conditions for the development of entrepreneurship in certain spatial scales, from the continental scale, through national and regional to local scales. The article presents complex conditions for the development of entrepreneurship, highlights its limitations resulting from institutional barriers, and the importance of knowing the mechanisms of mutual relations between spatial systems and the influence of control instruments. The quality of central and local government authorities is of particular significance here, which do not always properly use the mechanisms of rational business support. A serious barrier to the development of entrepreneurship is the low quality of social capital, manifested in a lack of trust in institutional authorities and reluctance to engage in entrepreneurship and business development. The conclusions point out that further research should be developed that will take into account changing business conditions, with a defined strategic goal of raising the quality and standard of living, international competitiveness of the country and products in different market categories.

The literary works represent a genuine source for researching and understanding the geographical space. Most of the time, this space is perceived and figured in various ways by the different authors referring to it. When available, the best way to study these mental representations is by using maps created by the authors themselves. This article concentrates on Liviu Rebreanu’s novel “The Uprising” and on the map which helped him to better depict the plot and the characters. The cartographical representation was created by Liviu Rebreanu and was published together with other drafts from the author’s personal archive. The paper analyzes the map using cartographical, historical and literary sources with the aim of understanding how the author reshaped the real space to better suit his literary imagination. In the end, the study explains how these kind of maps could be interpreted using a geocritical approach.

The article reviews research into the tourism resource of cemeteries and establishes the place they oc-cupy in geographical and tourism space. At the same time the author discusses attitudes to ‘cemetery space’ of interest from a tourism perspective. The review is based on the literature and the author’s study of the tourism resources of cemeteries such as those from World War I in the Beskid Niski range of hills.

Jednocześnie poruszony został problem stosunku człowieka do turystyki odbywającej się w ramach przestrzeni cmentarza, będącego obiektem zainteresowań turysty. Synteza oparta została na literaturze i prowadzonych przez autora badaniach nad walorami turystycznymi cmentarzy, m.in. z I wojny światowej w Beskidzie Niskim.

Against this background, this paper is trying to find a frame to synthesize the phenomena through the relations between the natural, socio-economic and cultural elements of geographical space. More and more precise study of the processes of the geographical space is necessary to understand and make rational decisions concerning the transformation of spatial systems.

Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie potencjału zasobów naturalnych i kulturowych chronionych w ramach Chęcińsko-Kieleckiego Parku Krajobrazowego. W obszarze CH-KPK obserwuje się rozwój funkcji turystycznej, tj. zasoby są przekształcane w wartości. Ich gromadzenie i koncentracja w przestrzeni geograficznej umożliwiają tworzenie produktów turystycznych, które zawierają rzeczywistą wartość pieniężną. Rozwój usług turystycznych prowadzi do zwiększenia potencjału turystycznego regionu. Powołany Chęciński Klaster Turystyczny można nazwać „nową” formą współpracy w różnych jednostkach mającą na celu zdobycie wiedzy o potencjale i zasobach regionu poprzez tworzenie kompleksowego produktu turystycznego. Turystyka stwarza okazję do rozwoju obszaru w oparciu o wartość środowiska naturalnego i kulturowego. Ponadto generuje miejsca pracy w usługach, co jest właściwym kierunkiem poprawy jakości życia mieszkańców.

The aim of the article is to present the potential of the natural and cultural resources protected within Chęciny-Kielce Landscape Park (CH-KPK). In the area of CH-KPK the development of the tourist function can be observed, i.e. the resources are transformed into values, and their accumulation and concentration effects in the geographical space. The tourism organization in the region is based on entities from the sphere of services, associations and organizations engaged in tourism activities which show weakness and lack of funds for promotion, renovation and development. Allow the creation of tourism products that contain an actual monetary value, i.e. tourism services leading to an increase in the tourism potential of the region. The tourism cluster is characterized by a multi-stakeholder approach. Appointed Chęciński Tourist Cluster can be called the “new” form of cooperation opportunities within various units to acquire knowledge about the potential and resources of the region, creating a comprehensive tourism product. Tourism creates an opportunity for the development of the area based on the value of the natural and cultural environment. Tourism generates jobs in services, which is the right direction for improving the quality of life of residents.

Парчевского По русским углам печатались в парижской газете «Последние новости» с 9 августа 1936 года по 4 июля 1937 и вышли отдельной книгой в 2002 году. У каждого из них свое лицо (их свыше 30). Они вписываются в раздел поэтики, имеющий своим предметом анализа образы географического пространства в индивидуальном творчестве. Эта поэтика сложилась уже в каче-стве академической науки как раздел культурологии и часть литературоведения. Очерки Парчевского составлены по географическому принципу, но представляют также интерес и в отношении статистики. Их фактология и информационность позволяют сделать вывод о наличии нового угла зрения и нового ракурса о судьбах русской диаспоры в разных уголках Франции. В анализируемых очерках осмыслена природная данность и историко-творческая заданность этого периода.

The sketches of K. Parchevskiy, a little-known emigrant publicist of the first wave of Russian emigration in the twentieth century, entitled Across the Russian Corners [По русским углам], were published in the Paris newspaper Latest News from August 9, 1936 to July 4, 1937, and came out as a book in 2002. Each of them is unique (they are over 30). They fit into the profile of poetics, which has as its object of analysis the ima-ges of geographical space in individual creative works. Poetics has become an academic science as a branch of cultural and literary studies. Parchevskiy’s essays are composed on a geographical principle but are also of interest with regard to statistics. The factual and informative value these essays convey allows perceiving the fate of the Russian diaspora in different parts of France from a new and fresh point of view. The analysed essays reflect the natural reality as well as the historical and creative structure of that period.
