Industrial Use of Geothermal Energy in Poland Based on the Example of a Geothermal Heating Plant in Bańska Niżna

Geothermal energy can be an interesting source of renewable energy in many respects. Among its numerous uses, industrial use is most desired. The aim and purpose of the article was to show the importance of renewable energy sources i.e. geothermal energy in industrial use in Poland. The work was based on the use of compact book literature, statistical data, as well as on the basis of Internet sources of information and publications. The publication presents the nature of the geothermal power industry, its role and significance for economies in the world and in Poland. Countries that make the most use of geothermal installations are mentioned. Conditions and barriers resulting from the use of geothermal energy are presented. A special place in this publication is given to the industrial use of geothermal power in Poland. As an example, the first geothermal plant was established in our country in Banska Nizna. The presented data is illustrated with tables and graphs. The research method used in the article was the analysis of existing data and literature review. The assumption that geothermal energy can be an important source of energy for industrial use is the thesis. However, it must take into account both its advantages and shortcomings. The study positively verified the thesis.

Energetyka geotermalna może stanowić interesujące pod wieloma względami źródło energii odnawialnej. Wśród jej wielu rozmaitych zastosowań na uwagę zasługuje wykorzystanie przemysłowe. Celem i przedmiotem artykułu było ukazanie znaczenia odnawialnego źródła energii, jakim jest energia geotermalna, w wykorzystaniu przemysłowym na terenie Polski. Praca powstała na podstawie dostępnej zwartej literatury książkowej, danych statystycznych oraz publikacji i wiadomości netograficznych.W artykule ukazano zasady funkcjonowania energetyki geotermalnej, jej rolę i znaczenie dla gospodarek na świecie i w Polsce. Wymieniono te kraje, które w największym stopniu wykorzystują praktycznie instalacje geotermiczne. Dokonano zestawienia przesłanek i barier wynikających z wykorzystywania geotermiki. Szczególną rolę w niniejszej publikacji poświęcono przemysłowemu wykorzystywaniu energetyki geotermalnej w Polsce. Jako przykład wybrano pierwszy zakład geotermalny na terenie naszego kraju – w miejscowości Bańska Niżna.Zaprezentowane dane zostały zilustrowane przy pomocy tabel i wykresów. Metodą badawczą wykorzystaną w artykule była analiza danych zastanych oraz krytyka piśmiennicza. Tezą, jaką postawiono w publikacji, jest założenie, że energetyka geotermalna może stanowić ważne źródło energii w wykorzystaniu przemysłowym. Należy jednak brać pod uwagę zarówno jej zalety, jak i mankamenty. Wyniki analizy danych zastanych pozytywnie zweryfikowały postawioną tezę.
