Artykuł porusza problem konsumpcji w gospodarstwach domowych emerytów w Polsce. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie sytuacji dochodowej, wydatków oraz struktury konsumpcji ludzi w wieku starszym. Podjęta tematyka została zrealizowana na podstawie analizy danych GUS, dotyczącej budżetów gospodarstw domowych emerytów w latach 2007–2012. Struktura artyku-łu jest następująca: po krótkim wprowadzeniu, w pierwszej części tekstu, w sposób syntetyczny, wyjaśniono pojęcie starości i procesu starzenia się, a następnie zaprezentowano zmiany demograficzne zachodzące w społeczeństwie polskim. W drugiej części artykułu przeanalizowano sytuację materialną (sytuację dochodową, poziom i strukturę wydatków konsumpcyjnych oraz strukturę rzeczową wydatków), oraz tendencje rozwojowe konsumpcji (zmiany w spożyciu żywności i wyposażeniu w dobra trwałego użytku) polskich emerytów. The article discusses consumption in pensioners’ households in Poland. Its aim is to present the income status, expenditures and the structure of consumption among the elderly. To this end, the 2007–2012 GUS data on pensioner households’ budgets are analysed. The article is organised as follows. A short introduction in the first part of the article is followed by a succinct explanation of the notions of old age and aging. Subsequently, demographic changes taking place in the Polish society are discussed. The second part of the article provides an analysis of the financial standing of Polish pensioners (their income status, the level and structure of consumption expenditures, and the expenditure structure by object) and of development trends characterising their consumption (variations in the consumption of foodstuffs) and possession of durable goods. The article ends with a concise summary.
