Artykuł opisuje przełomowe momenty w historii Kliniki Chirurgii Ręki, a następnie Kliniki Traumatologii, Ortopedii i Chirurgii Ręki Akademii Medycznej (od 2007 r. Uniwersytetu Medycznego) w Poznaniu. Dzięki inicjatywie jej kierowników, chirurgia ręki zaczęła rozwijać się w Polsce najpierw wewnątrz Polskiego Towarzystwa Ortopedycznego i Traumatologicznego, jako jego Sekcja Chirurgii Ręki, później w ramach Polskiego Towarzystwa Chirurgii Ręki. Dla Kliniki charakterystyczne było stałe dążenie do rozwoju naukowego i strukturalnego, poza tym była liderem wprowadzania nowych rozwiązań technologicznych i adaptacji technik operacyjnych celem najlepszego możliwego leczenia kończyny górnej. Działania te, jak i szereg innych, zostały docenione w Polsce i na świecie, poprzez liczne nagrody, wyróżnienia oraz powierzanie poznańskiej Klinice organizacji międzynarodowych wydarzeń naukowych dotyczących chirurgii ręki.

The article describes breakthrough moments in the history of the Poznan Department of Traumatology, Orthopedics and Hand Surgery, previously known as the Hand Surgery Department. Thanks to the initiative of its heads, hand surgery began to develop in Poland, first within the Polish Orthopedic Society as its Hand Surgery Division, later as part of the Polish Society of Hand Surgery. The Department was characterized by a constant pursuit of scientific and structural development, moreover, it was a leader in the introduction of new technological solutions and the adaptation of surgical techniques for the best possible treatment of upper extremity. This activity was appreciated and honoured by many awards and entrusting the Poznan Department with the organization of international scientific events concerning hand surgery.
