Sytuacja społeczno-gospodarcza kraju determinuje różne aspekty życia codziennego obywateli. Wzrost gospodarczy jest nieustannym procesem zwiększania poziomu dobrobytu społecznego. W artykule dokonano próby odpowiedzi na pytanie: Czy nakłady inwestycyjne poniesione w sektorze edukacji wpływają na sytuację społeczno-gospodarczą Polski? W analizach wykorzystano wybrane mierniki makroekonomiczne: PKB w cenach bieżących, stopy bezrobocia rejestrowanego oraz liczbę studentów i absolwentów publicznych szkół wyższych. W badaniach zastosowano współczynnik korelacji Pearsona, który pozwolił na określenie zależności nakładów inwestycyjnych w edukacji do ww. mierników makroekonomicznych.

The socio-economic situation of our country determines various aspects of the citizens’ everyday life. Economic growth is a constant process increasing the level of the social well-being. This article is an attempt to answer the question of whether investment in the education sector has impact on the socio-economic situation of Poland. In the analyses macroeconomic indicators were used: real GDP, registered unemployment rates and the number of students and public higher education school graduates. The Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient was used in the research. Thanks to that the relation between investment in education and the so called macroeconomic indicators was determined.
