Infrastruktura sportowa na terenie Warszawy w latach pięćdziesiątych XX wieku i współcześnie

Cel badań. Celem badań jest zaprezentowanie wybranych obiektów stanowiących warszawską bazę sportową stworzoną w latach 50. XX w. oraz ich stanu w czasach współczesnych. Materiał i metody. Do zrealizowania celu zastosowano kwerendę prasy, zwłaszcza o tematyce sportowej, oraz czasopism traktujących o zagadnieniach społecznych. Była to prasa o zasięgu ogólnopolskim i lokalnym stanowiąca cenne źródło informacji o tendencjach występujących wówczas w społeczeństwie. Zastosowano metodę indukcyjną, komparatystyczną, analizy i syntezy źródeł. Wyniki. W czasach PRL dążącego do umasowienia sportu tworzenie nowoczesnej infrastruktury sportowej było priorytetem. Budowa bazy sportowej oraz sukcesy w tej dziedzinie służyły celom propagandowym ówczesnej władzy. Przeobrażenia społeczne, polityczne i gospodarcze u progu lat 90. XX w. spowodowały także zmiany w zarządzaniu i organizacji sportem, co miało wpływ na jego infrastrukturę. Wnioski. Obiekty sportowe, które powstały w Warszawie w czasach komunistycznych, cieszyły się wówczas dużą popularnością. Były poważnym osiągnięciem w dziedzinie architektury, a niektóre z nich, po renowacji, służą do dziś mieszkańcom stolicy.

Background. The aim of the research was to present the Warsaw sports infrastructure built in the People’s Republic of Poland, as compared with its use and state in modern times. Material and methods. Press publications, especially referring to sports subjects, and journals on social issues were used. Nationwide and local press is a valuable source of information and the prevailing trends in the society of its time. Analysis and synthesis of the sources were applied. Results. In the times of the People’s Republic of Poland, in the process of sport popularization, the creation of modern sports infrastructure was a priority. The creation of a sports base and successes in this field served the propaganda purposes of the authorities. The social, political, and economic transformations in the early 1990s also resulted in changes in the management and organization of sport, which affected its infrastructure. Conclusions. Sports facilities developed in Warsaw at the time of communism enjoyed great popularity at the time. They constituted serious architectural achievements. Some of them, restored, serve the city residents till this day.
