O (nie)przydatności źródeł leksykograficznych w badaniach XIX-wiecznej terminologii prawnej

W artykule podjęto problematykę związaną z wykorzystaniem źródeł leksykograficznych w badaniach XIX-wiecznej terminologii prawnej. Autorzy postawili sobie za cel zbadanie, czy autorzy XIX-wiecznych słowników ekscerpowali akty prawne z czasów Księstwa Warszawskiego i Królestwa Polskiego (co oznaczałoby, że ówczesna leksykografia dokumentowała zachodzące wówczas zmiany w zakresie semantyki terminów czy ich frekwencji), oraz ocenę przydatności słowników jako źródła informacji o dawnej leksyce prawnej. Przeprowadzona analiza wykazała, że dawne słowniki ze względu na często kompilacyjny charakter nie są w pełni miarodajnym źródłem w opisie niestabilnej niegdyś terminologii prawnej, wobec czego jej badania muszą się także odwoływać do konkretnych tekstów – w tym także tych, które dokumentują przejawy dawnej świadomości językowo-prawnej.

The article deals with the use of lexicographical sources in the research of the 19th century legal terminology. The aim of the study is to find out whether the authors of 19th century dictionaries used legal documents from the times of the Duchy of Warsaw and Kingdom of Poland. If so, it would mean that the old lexicography documented undergoing changes of the semantics of terms and frequency of their use. Another aim was to assess the usefulness of dictionaries as the source of information on old legal lexis. The authors demonstrate that the old dictionaries are not a fully reliable source in the description of the then unstable legal terminology because of their compilation nature; therefore, researchers have to refer to specific texts, including those ones.
