The article discusses understanding the nature of the Holy Spirit in the early thought in the patristic period of Nicea and Constantinople councils. The development of pneumatology and Christology doctrines was a significant part of the thought of early Christian doctrine fathers. Its codification, which was extended onto the whole Church, was usually caused by heresy, which wanted to interpret the faith teaching in their own way and to capture it as its own, nominating themselves as the highest authority. Church fathers spoke against those dissident temptations and clearly referring to the Biblical authority formed the pneumatological doctrine as it is known today. In the beginning it was not unambiguous, but the reception of Biblical contents about the Holy Spirit which teaches the whole truth in the Church allowed us with His help to understand the fullness of its nature.
