Przedmiotem tomu Autoetnografia – technika, metoda, nowy paradygmat? jest problematyka metodologicznych i aplikacyjnych aspektów autoetnografii. Artykuły wchodzące w skład numeru rozmieszczone są w dwóch częściach: Część I. Problemy paradygmatyczne i metodologiczne zastosowania autoetnografii oraz Część II. Aplikacyjny wymiar autoetnografii. W opracowaniu tym starano się oddać napięcie istniejące pomiędzy dwoma głównymi nurtami uprawiania autoetnografii: paradygmatem autoetnografii ewokatywnej (evocative–emotional autoethnography) oraz autoetnografii analitycznej (analytic autoethnography) poprzez odwołanie do wypowiedzi kluczowych dla tych ujęć postaci: Carolyn Ellis oraz Leona Andersona. Prezentowany jest unikalny wywiad z Carolyn Ellis oraz pierwsze polskie tłumaczenie kluczowego artykułu Leona Andersona, w którym wprowadza on do obiegu naukowego pojęcie „autoetnografii analitycznej”. Autoetnografia wnosi do procesu badawczego wrażliwość samego badacza i przyczynia się do zrozumienia roli jego refleksyjności w procesie wytwarzania wiedzy. Jak żadna inna metoda socjologiczna w wyrafinowany sposób odsłania wielowymiarowość pozycji badacza. W tym sensie można postrzegać autoetnografię zarówno jako część walidacji i uwiarygodnienia procesu badawczego jak i szerzej jako składnik procesu humanizacji nauki. Publikacja niniejsza jest odpowiedzią na rosnące zainteresowanie autoetnografią jako praktyką badawczą oraz próbą wypełnienia publikacyjnej luki na ten temat w literaturze polskojęzycznej.

The subject of the issue is methodological and application aspects of autoethnography. The articles contained in Autoethnography – technique, method, or new paradigm? are put in two parts: Part I: Paradigmatic and methodological problems of autoethnography, and Part II. Application dimension of autoethnography. The intention of the editor was to elucidate the tension between evocative and analytic autoethnography – two main streams of autoethnographical practices – through referring to the statements of key personalities representing these two paradigms: Carolyn Ellis and Leon Anderson. The effect of these efforts is an unique interview with Carolyn Ellis and the first polish translation of the key article of Leon Anderson, in which he introduces the term “analytic autoethnography” to the scientific circulation. Autoethnography contributes to the research process the sensitivity of the researcher, and allows to understand the role of investigator’s reflexivity in the process of knowledge production. No other sociological methods gives possibility of revealing multidimensional positions of the researcher in the research process. This way we can see autoethnography as a part of research process validation and legitimization, alike as a major constituent of the humanization of science process. This issue is a response to growing interest in autoethnography as a research practice, as well as an attempt to fill publication gap about autoethnography in Polish literature.
