The aim of this study was to prezent the rights and freedoms of peasants in the articles of the Constitution of May 3. It presents serfdom and the legal status of the lowest state before the adoption of the Government Act. The article also describes whether the attempt to introduce changes had an impact on social changes in Poland and whether they were supported by the society. More over, it was considered whether the Constitution of May 3 had an impact on the development of social and national ideas among the peasants.

Celem niniejszej pracy było ukazanie praw i wolności chłopów w artykułach Konstytucji 3 maja. Przedstawiono jak wyglądała pańszczyzna i status prawny najniższego stanu przed uchwaleniem Ustawy Rządowej. W artykule opisano również czy próba wprowadzenia zmian miała wpływ na zmiany społeczne na ziemiach polskich i czy były one poparte przez społeczeństwo. Ponadto poddano pod rozważania tezę, czy Konstytucja 3 maja miała wpływ na rozwój idei społecznych i narodowych wśród chłopstwa.
